A perfect 10/10 day in the Winelands!

We booked this tour as a highlight of our honeymoon, and it absolutely exceeded all our expectations. From start to finish, it was seamless, sophisticated, and so much fun. Our guide, Michael, was fantastic. His knowledge of wine and the region's history was impressive, but he never made it feel like a lecture. He was engaging, funny, and tailored the day perfectly to our preferences. He clearly had great relationships with the wineries we visited, which made us feel like VIPs. The scenery driving through Stellenbosch and Franschhoek is just breathtaking. The mountains and rolling vineyards are even more beautiful in person. We visited three distinct wineries, each offering a different vibe – from a grand, historic estate to a more modern, boutique vineyard. The tastings were generous and varied; we loved comparing the bold reds to the crisp whites, and the sparkling wine and port were a real treat. The included cheese and chocolate tastings were the perfect gourmet touch. We stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant in Franschhoek with a stunning terrace view. The food was delicious and a great chance to relax and soak in the atmosphere. What we appreciated most was the private tour aspect. It was just us and our guide, so we could take our time, ask endless questions, and truly enjoy the day at our own pace. It felt like a special, personalized experience rather than a canned tour. If you have even a passing interest in wine, this tour is a must-do. It’s the perfect way to experience the beauty and flavors of the Cape Winelands without any stress. A truly memorable day

An absolutely fabulous day in the Winelands!

My husband and I did this tour for our anniversary, and it was simply perfect. We’ve done wine tours in other countries, but this one stands out because of the sheer quality and personalization. Our guide, David, was a gem. He was incredibly knowledgeable not just about the wine, but about the history of the regions, the different grape varieties, and the stories behind each estate. He wasn't just a driver; he was a true ambassador for the Cape Winelands. The tour was beautifully paced. We visited three very different wineries—one a large, award-winning estate with breathtaking architecture, another a smaller, family-run farm where we felt like personal guests, and a third that specialized in Méthode Cap Classique (South African sparkling wine). The variety was fantastic. We tasted everything from robust Pinotage to crisp Chenin Blanc, and even some port and local cheeses. The chocolate pairing was a delightful surprise! The scenery is, of course, stunning. Driving through the valleys of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek with the mountains all around is something you have to see to believe. David made a few spontaneous stops for us to take photos, which we really appreciated. We opted for lunch at a restaurant he recommended in Franschhoek, and it was delicious. Sitting outside with a glass of wine, looking over the vineyards… it doesn’t get much better than that. What made it a "top award-winning" experience for us was the private aspect. There was no rushing, no waiting for a big group. It felt like a day out with a knowledgeable friend. If you love wine, beautiful scenery, and a relaxed, first-class experience, book this tour. You won’t regret it

Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.

How much does Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $4865 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.

Is Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Top Award-Winning Cape Wine Tasting Full Day Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cape Town?

+

On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cape Town?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cape Town?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
