A perfect end to our Honeymoon!
An absolutely amazing experience. Wanoma was a lovely host and teacher. We thoroughly enjoyed the tea ceremony and learning more about it - we had ample time to ask questions and discover more. The calligraphy session was fantastic - it is such an incredible art form and we really felt guided and supported throughout. It has ignited a passion in us to try this as a hobby back home and to maybe learn some more Japanese for the next time we visit! Wanoma is patient, friendly and kind - we were made to feel so welcome and comfortable during our time with her. It was the perfect end to our honeymoon in Osaka - what a fantastic experience and we shall treasure our calligraphy souvenirs for years to come! Mike and Victoria x

Authentic and wonderful tea ceremony and calligraphy
This was exactly the type of experience I had hoped for. Authentic tea ceremony (Omotesenke style) that while accessible to tourists, still honors and retains the spirit of tea ceremony. Excellent calligraphy lesson. Learned a lot and was able to build on existing skills
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for visiting Japanese Culture Experience WA NO MA. I am truly honored and delighted that my experience met your expectations. I strive every day to provide an experience that honors the spirit of Japanese tradition while remaining accessible to guests from abroad. Knowing that you felt this intention is a great encouragement to me. Furthermore, your movements during the session—both in handling the tea bowl and in your brushwork—were remarkably beautiful and refined. I hope you will continue to cherish and hone your wonderful skills and artistic sensibility. I look forward to the day we can enjoy Japanese culture together again!

Highlight of entire Japan trip
Our teacher was phenomenal. This experience was the highlight of our entire trip. Having a one on one experience was so wonderful. We were able to ask questions about all aspects of Japanese life. Her English was exceptional so we didn’t need any translating devices. She was an excellent teacher. The matcha and sweets were delicious and beautiful. The calligraphy was so much fun and I can’t believe she taught us the basics so quickly. We will treasure our calligraphy art. Our teacher was also just a splendid, kind, and patient human. Incredibly grateful for the experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for visiting Japanese Culture Experience WA NO MA and for your heartwarming message! The time I spent with you was a wonderful and unforgettable memory for me too, because you asked me various questions about the tea ceremony and giving your full attention to your calligraphy work! I was very happy to see that you showed such a deep interest in Japanese culture. Thank you so much. Please display your amazing calligraphy work in your home. I hope to see you again. :)

Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Osaka.
How much does Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Osaka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka take?
+
Plan for about 2.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Osaka is not rushed.
Is Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Osaka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Osaka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Osaka and add a light layer if any part of the 2.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Experiences in Osaka start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Osaka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Osaka?
+
On Outty we rank every Osaka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour:15 Tastings & 3 Drinks with a Local, Ultimate Osaka Walking Tour: Castle, Dotonbori, Gems & Lunch, Osaka Castle Walking Tour and Castle Tower Admission. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Osaka?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Osaka?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
