After this break, we continue on the trail toward Cañaveral to complete the return hike.

We begin the return hike from Playa La Piscina back toward the Cañaveral sector, following the same ecological trail in reverse. Amazing experience, surpassed expectations
We booked the trip only a day in advance but Cesar, our guide, was quick to get back to us to confirm the booking and the pick up time at our hotel. César was incredibly knowledgeable about Santa Marta, the history and geology of the region and Tayrona park itself. He treated us really well with air conditioned ride there, stood in line for us to get tickets and was very accommodating to our requests to stop and see wildlife or rest. César knows many people at the park and you can tell he is well liked and respected by the park operators and vendors. My dream was to see a Tucán and as many monkeys as possible and we got really lucky because we got to see them all! We also got to swim at Piscina Natural, a gorgeous beach with temperate waves and clear water. Cannot recommend this enough!

Highly recommend Cesar! A unique and memorable experience
Cesar made this an unforgettable experience! He was a kind, knowledgeable, and attentive guide, always on the lookout for wildlife and made a point to give us context on Santa Marta, Tayrona, and each spot we stopped at throughout the hike. He handled tickets ahead of time so we didn't have to wait in line and knew every tricky spot on the trails. Cesar was very informative about the different insects/animals/birds, and since he knew where to look, we got to see bats, crabs, ants, centipedes, lizards, three types of monkeys, a snake, and even a toucan (got lucky with that one!). The beaches we stopped at (La Piscina, Cabo San Juan, and others) were pristine and breathtaking. Breaking up the hike with a swim and lunch was lovely. Would highly recommend working with Cesar to hike and explore this area!

Unforgettable tour in Santa Marta and Tayrona with César!
We did a private day tour with César through Santa Marta and Tayrona National Park, and it exceeded every expectation. He picked us up right on time and was flexible with our schedule the whole day. In Santa Marta we visited the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, and César brought all the history of Simón Bolívar to life in a way that made the visit so much more meaningful. Second day we headed into Tayrona, stopping at a couple of the most beautiful beaches in the park, with César sharing insight on the wildlife and making sure we had breaks from the heat along the way. What stood out most was how attentive and patient he was the entire day, he made us feel completely taken care of from start to finish. The views were stunning and the whole experience felt seamless thanks to his planning. If you’re visiting Santa Marta, book with César, you will not regret it. We’re already planning to do another tour with him next time we’re back!

It was an epic unforgettable experience.

Quick trail walk to Cabo San Juan Tayrona Park
Overall was a nice experience. Weather was perfect. Easy hike from the parking lot in the national park to the Cabo San Juan. Pick up was timely and flexible. I opted for an earlier 620am pickup. But can be whatever you decide with Cesar. Maybe I was lucky, got in on a Friday and it was very quiet and peaceful only seeing a handful while getting to the end point. The beaches and view were excellent and not that many people. Cesar was informative about the different insects/animals/birds and kept an eye open for monkeys. We saw bats, crabs, ants, rocks. Overall easy hike. Very convenient as the driver was waiting readily when we got back and didn't have to wait. When we arrived back at the parking lot it seemed like several people were waiting for the shuttle to get back to the gate..but in my case, the driver was there already which was nice. Overall was fun and got in safely in the park and to the destination and back to the hotel.... worth the $268 USD/pp? Maybe $200 would be better priced. I was solo so I did pay another premium, almost double. (Understood, TA or viator does charge a fee to these operators so thr markup has to be significant) Price paid is slightly pricey... Understood, the whole activity can be for 8-10hrs. Which on a per hour basis, makes sense... but one suggestion is perhaps to include the lunch and a drink as part of the cost (as this is only about 40k-50k COP ~ $12-15USD) But all was good. Can it be done on your own? Certainly,.. The cost of convenience does play into it... Cesar was great 10/10 though
