Private VIP tour with ups and downs – overall disappointing for us
Our conclusion first: We had some truly beautiful experiences – dolphins in the water, an excellent steep reef, a turtle and eagle rays, as well as a wreck worth seeing. Furthermore, we would like to explicitly acknowledge that the team visibly tried to improve the situation after our clear criticism during the tour. Overall, however, the negative points outweighed the positive for us: Fish were lured with a banana for photos, several of the reefs visited were disappointing, the actual guidance while snorkeling was inadequate from our perspective, and at the most beautiful reef, the captain apparently did not have us in sight at times. The procedure for swimming with the dolphins also left us with an uneasy feeling regarding the treatment of the animals. For a private 5-hour VIP tour for two people for €270, the content of which we had coordinated very extensively with the provider beforehand, we had expected significantly more. What we had booked Our wish was clearly communicated from the beginning: to see wild dolphins and swim with them, and subsequently to snorkel at beautiful reefs with interesting marine fauna. We had deliberately removed White Island from the program. An experienced captain and guide was particularly important to us. That is exactly what we had explicitly addressed before booking. Early pickup – delayed start nonetheless We were picked up at our hotel in Makadi Bay at 6:30 a.m. as agreed. Although there was a small delay with the pickup, we were at the harbor in Hurghada around 7:20 a.m. When we arrived at the boat, however, the captain was not there yet. Our guide therefore made several phone calls. We already went on board and continued waiting there. The captain finally arrived only a few minutes before 8:00 a.m. and we were able to leave around 8:00 a.m. Precisely because we were picked up so early and it was important to us during planning to have the best possible conditions for the dolphin encounter, we found it disappointing to subsequently have to wait about 40 minutes at the harbor for the captain. Dolphin House – saw dolphins, but an uneasy feeling We actually saw dolphins and were in the water with them several times. We were, of course, happy about that. However, we had imagined something different by "Swim with Dolphins." At least 6–8 boats, possibly even more, were searching for the dolphins at the same time. The process repeated itself several times: Find dolphins → drive over with the boat and position it → jump into the water → see 2–3 dolphins swim by briefly → back onto the boat → search again. During one encounter, dolphins initially came toward our boat. After we had jumped into the water, they clearly changed their swimming direction and moved away. Why they changed their direction, we naturally cannot judge. We would have wished for a much calmer and more passive encounter, where one leaves it up to the dolphins whether they want to approach the humans. The banana – almost the end of the tour for us The first snorkeling spot was already disappointing because the reef seemed largely dead to us. Then our guide took a banana into the water and used it to lure fish – apparently to be able to take better photos. At this point, we were actually on the verge of canceling the tour. We book a nature and snorkeling tour to observe animals in their natural behavior, and not so that fish are lured with food for photos. We therefore immediately made it clear that this was not okay for us at all. We would like to explicitly mention on a positive note that the guide and the captain obviously tried to save the tour afterward. Additional spots were visited, we were offered a wreck on the way back, and instead of the agreed-upon five hours, we were on the water for about 5 hours and 20 minutes. The reefs – only one spot really convinced us A total of five reef spots were visited. The wall reef was truly beautiful and by far the best snorkeling spot of the tour: clear, vibrant blue water, a beautiful reef, and an interesting underwater world. There, our guide spotted a sea turtle and pointed it out to us; we also saw an eagle ray. Another spot was mediocre for us, one was very crowded due to a large group boat, and two reefs appeared largely dead. The additional wreck we visited, however, was worth seeing. Particularly sobering for us was the comparison the following day: We were snorkeling at our hotel's house reef again and had the overall impression of seeing more interesting underwater life there than at most of the reef stops on this private tour. Only the wall reef was clearly better for us. During the tour, we actually thought several times that we would have been better off staying at our hotel's house reef for snorkeling. Guide – different from what we had expected from a private guided tour On a private guided snorkeling tour, we expect the guide to accompany the guests in the water, set the route, point out interesting areas, and keep an eye on the group. Our guide sometimes didn't get into the water until a few minutes after us, was rarely really near us, and sometimes went back to the boat before we did. Once, the guide left the water to prepare fruit. At two spots – including the wreck – we went snorkeling completely without a guide. At times, we felt more like we were guiding ourselves through the reefs. The most serious point for us: The captain did not keep us in sight. At the most beautiful drop-off reef, there was a distinct current, and we swam along the reef with the current. The boat initially drove parallel to us, which is why we continued to swim along the reef at first. Only later did we learn from the guide that it was apparently not intended for us to continue snorkeling with the current and then be picked up by the boat. The captain had meanwhile driven back to our original entry point. We therefore had to swim back against the current. In doing so, we tried several times to get the captain's attention by waving, and even waved clearly with a fin. However, he did not notice us. Only after we had swum a good distance back against the current and whistled were we finally noticed. The fact that it was not clearly communicated beforehand how the snorkeling trip should proceed given the existing current was already problematic. But an absolute no-go for us was that the captain did not keep us in sight while we were in the water. Especially on a private snorkeling tour, the captain must know where his guests are at all times and keep an eye on them. We shouldn't have to try to get his attention by waving a fin, swimming back against the current, and finally whistling. For us, this is not just a question of the quality of the tour, but above all a question of safety. It was particularly annoying that this happened at by far the most beautiful reef of the tour, where we would have liked to snorkel for longer. Nevertheless, we would like to note something positive. After our complaint about the banana, the guide and the captain visibly tried to improve the tour. We were given extra time, additional spots, and the wreck was offered spontaneously. In addition, many photos were taken and we later received a GoPro video. We explicitly credit the team for this. Nevertheless, the fundamental points of criticism remain for us. For a private VIP tour for €270, the overall experience did not meet our expectations.

Best trip snorkling ever
We made this trip with this company and could not have chosen better. A 5* service. Our captain on the Ali boat was sensational, very good at explaining where we were passing and provided an unforgettable experience. The stop we made for snorkling was spectacular, Ali dived with us and took us to the best places, we saw sea horses, rays, dolphins! Thank you for the fantastic experience in Hurghada 👍🏻
