    Tectonic plates free dive

Great guy. He was Informative and professional. Explained about the water , the temperature and why it is the same all year. The wet suits were warm. Good quality gear. Awesome set up in the van. Best of all it was fun. Guide was relaxed and joked and showed us all the cool places. Nothing better than drinking glacier water and being able to touch both sides of the tectonic plates at the same time.

    Must!

I can strongly recommend the Silfra free dive experience - it was stunning and unforgettable. If you hesitate - don’t! It’s a must-have while traveling Iceland and here is why: - the underwater views are simply beautiful and clear even when the outside weather is a little bit off. - so much fun! Especially for a first-timer. - not as cold as it seems - the equipment is just enough to make you feel comfortable and warm for an entire dive. - and the last but not least - the instructor is very friendly and helpful + he kinda look like he could be one of the Skarsgard brothers. :)

The best and only place to dip your toes into Silfra with one breath!

Birgir and his team have a good setup going, with their van as warm room to change and get ready before the dive. We brought our own suits to Iceland, but used their weights and fins to save some travel luggage and personally I prefer wearing my own suit to make sure everything fits perfect in the icy water. The way to the fissur is made on foot, crocs provided for easy travel and most importantly - they offer high quality wind-stopper dive ponchos for the walk over to and from the accesspoints, so you stay warm and protected until you get into the water. Honestly, this was one of our highlights in Iceland - I might be biased because I'm a freediver - but if you are a freediver, this is the place to dive with :D Given the nature of this attraction, it was not so crowded and we got some awesome pictures coming up - check them out at @mesapholis and @joel_sharks on insta! Thanks Iceland Freediving!

    Kindness is the warmth

Bjarni is a great warm host and guide! And Biggie is really warm with the local interests too! And SILFRA is other worldly. Came to dive as the center piece and it was! 🧊🍃🪨 it’s also in the golden circle so you can experience more when you are finished with your tip - get the go pro photos you’ll wanna remember this one!

Private Silfra Freedive Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Private Silfra Freedive Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $1115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Silfra Freedive Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Private Silfra Freedive Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Silfra Freedive Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Silfra Freedive Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Silfra Freedive Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Silfra Freedive Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
