Located between the Aventino and Palatine Hill, the Circus Maximus was the largest stadium in ancient Rome built for chariot races. Roman circuses were the most important centres of entertainment in the Roman cities, apart from the theatres and amphitheatres. They were extended precincts in which the public games were held, consisting of chariot races and different spectacles. The Circus Maximus in Rome (Circo Massimo), located between the Aventino and Palatine Hills, was an extended precinct with space for 300,000 spectators. The arena, which measured 600 meters in length and 225 meters in width, made the Circus Maximus the largest in Rome, ahead of the Circus of Flaminius and the Circus of Maxentius.

Palatine Hill

Sistine Chapel
The Sistine Chapel is one of the greatest treasures of the Vatican City, of Rome and of the world in general. It is known as much for its decoration, as for being the temple in which popes are chosen and crowned. The construction of the building was carried out between 1473 and 1481 during the mandate of Pope Sixtus IV, to whom it owes its current name. The architect responsible for the construction was Giovanni of Dolci and it is the only work that he is remembered for. What grabs the attention in the Sistine Chapel is not its architecture, but the frescoes that completely cover the walls and the ceiling. Some of the most important artists who worked in the chapel are Botticelli, Perugino, Luca and Michelangelo.

The experiences we had in July with RomeInLimo and even in the booking process leading up to our trip are worthy of 10 STARS! From the start, I found this company with the help of AI based on what my families needs were for our very short stay in Rome and for what we wanted to pack into it and I can't say I could have found a better company! We had a two day window to squeeze in as much site seeing as possible during a heat wave in Italy and this company knocked it out of the park. I started our contact with the company in early July 2026 so I was already worried I was way to late to book to tours but I was so very surprised when I was able to get all we wanted and MORE! The company was very quick at responding to all my messages even despite the large time difference in US vs Italy. You can't say that for many companies today and I was beyond grateful as it allowed us to share our goals and then they could help recommend what tours would be best. Our first day included a private van tour with Peter our AMAZING guide who picked us up at our door and took us to all the spots plus so much more. We learned so much that day with him and really got to see Rome through a lifelong Roman's eye which was exactly what we wanted! Even our teen boys were engaged and loving the whole time! Our second tour was the following day, with Tania, at the Colosseum and Forum. Again, we could not have asked for a better guide, she is an archeologist that literally helped work on portions of the Forums excavations! She was so knowledgeable and taught us so much in the 3-4 hours we were with her! On top of that, we were able to score last minute Arena floor tickets with the help of another contact that RomeInLimo connected us too who purchased standard tickets for the Colosseum but was trying until the week of, to get us upgraded to Arena floor tickets that day and she did! Compared to other family members who booked a Golf Cart tour and Colusseum tour through another company; our experience was AMAZING! When plan our next trip to Italy, the first thing I will do is look at what tours Romein Limo has to offer and book them! Thank you so much for making our trip even more special than it already was for our family!

Wonderful day in Rome
We had an amazing time in Rome. Our driver Marco was the best! He was waiting for us when the ship docked and took us all around. His knowledge, friendliness and fantastic planning made our day amazing. I would use RomeinLimo again and if you go to Rome ask for Marco! You will not be disappointed

Rome in a day was a great experience!
My husband and I toured Rome on May 5th with Lorenzo, our driver. He was wonderful! I can't say enough how friendly, polite and professional he was. He truly made the day both interesting and fun! His knowledge of the city and it's history was incredible. He even suggested a wonderful place for lunch. Lorenzo took us to meet our private Vatican guide, Barbara Bruno, who was equally wonderful. I would highly recommend Rome in Limo and especially Lorenzo.

A must do for private tours in Italy
We used this company in May for tours in La Spezia, Rome a nd Naples. Being first timers in Europe, the company was very responsive and patient for the many questions we had. They use new model Mercedes vans for private tours. The drivers go over and above to make sure you are safe and comfortable. They also make it a priority to get to your ship with time to spare. I highly recommend this company for Italian tours.

RomeInLimo is the Way to Go!
The service and professionalism from RomeInLimo was exceptional! We are four women who only had one day in Rome after a cruise. We booked a private transfer from Rome’s cruise port, Civitavecchia which is about a 90-minute drive to Rome’s city center. We enjoyed a lovely day seeing the most popular sites in Rome, including the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. We had to book tickets to the Vatican and the Colosseum in advance, separately, but our wonderful driver, Guiliano, got us where we needed to be with ease. Although this was a very busy itinerary, we never felt stressed or rushed because Guiliano figured out the timing for us, got us to our destinations, and magically appeared to pick us up when we had completed touring a site. He showed us some additional, lesser visited historic sites in Rome, as well. Guiliano was kind and so helpful. He stopped on a hill above the Colosseum to take a photo of us with the Colosseum in the background, away from the crowds. He recommended a great area to stop for a quick lunch before we continued our whirlwind tour. The vehicle was immaculate and, after very full day, he dropped us (and our luggage) off at our hotel. I also must mention, Jany from the office at RomeInLimo. She was incredibly helpful. Before our trip, I emailed her a lot with various questions about the sites etc. She was so responsive and organized. I really appreciated her prompt and helpful communication. In short, RomeInLimo was responsive, professional, efficient and kind. Our private tour with RomeInLimo was a great way to get a quick picture of Rome, and of course, we all can’t wait to go back!
