About this experience

Side by side tours are a perfect way to cover the variety of exciting and challenging terrains while offering spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano. (on a clear day) Guides will navigate you through rivers, mud, and the Costa Rican Jungle, sharing knowledge of Costa Rica’s incredible biodiversity. The tour starts with a warm-up track to help you get comfortable with operating the machines. Once the SBSs are warmed up, we’ll progress to the more advanced sections, bringing you closer to the volcano. Here, you will have a short break to take in the stunning views of the La Fortuna ranges and the majestic Arenal Volcano. After enjoying the backcountry and some trails, you head to the Arenal River for a drink and a refreshing swim. (weather permitting) Once you’ve relaxed and cleaned off some of the mud from your SBS adventure, it’s time to return to the trails and head back to the entrance. **We are a 100% insured company, and the minimum age to drive the SBS is 18.**

Our private SBS tour was...

Our private SBS tour was amazing! Our guide, Brendan (or Branden??), was so fun and friendly. He really helped make our experience so memorable. He pointed out a sloth hanging out on the side of road, took us through beautiful countryside, and made sure we hit every mud puddle along the way so my husband could create huge splashes to get us soaked. The kids loved it! Our guide took pictures and videos as we crossed the river. He did not charge us for the images like some of the other tours do. When we arrived back at our meeting spot, he offered us the most delicious fresh pineapple and clean towels to wipe the mud/water off. This is by far our favorite UTV tour we’ve ever been on. Unfortunately, it was too foggy to see the volcano, but it didn’t stop us from loving the experience.

More than expected!

Great experience! We got wet and muddy as advertised. Alfonso did a great job guiding.. I thought he was going to drive our family of 5 but we took turns driving and following him around. Volcano was hard to see due to weather but we crossed rivers and muddy streams. Rest of staff was great to.

Fun private tour

We did a private side by side tour and had a group of four. We got pretty muddy (intentionally) and had so much fun! Our guide, Alan let us pull over to stretch our legs and get photos by the Rio Arenal. We also stopped by a restaurant for a bathroom break and more photos of the volcano. It was a very fun and adventurous day. The company was also understanding of us being 15 mins late due to bad traffic outside La Fortuna! Always plan for bad traffic if you’re coming from San Carlos. It’s unpredictable. Would def book with this company again. And private is the way to go!
