Ahmed is a gem
We booked two full days of a private tour with Tour by Emirati. The first day was with Dana (who was awesome and I separately reviewed). The second day was with Ahmed, who showed us around the city. The highlights were the Presidential Palace and the Grand Mosque, each of which was beautiful and awesome (in the literal sense of the word). Ahmed was a gem, taking care of us and teaching us about his city and culture. He was also awestruck when entering the Presidential Palace and the Grand Mosque, as if he were a young boy seeing it for the first time, and that enthusiasm was inspiring. His intimate knowledge of the Grand Mosque was particularly impressive. At the end of the day, we asked for genuine Emirati food and he brought us to a hole-in-the-wall that only locals go to where the food was delicious. He joined us for dinner and was wonderful company.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We're so happy you enjoyed your time with Ahmed. His passion for sharing Abu Dhabi and its culture truly shines through, and we're glad you experienced that. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Excellent Ahmed!
Ahmed was our tour guide and he was wonderful. He made the the trip educational, as well as interesting. He is extremely knowledgable, even with small facts about things we would never have know had he not shared with us. We came away with nothing but respect for the mosque and Ahmed. We highly recommend this experience with Ahmed as your tour guide.

Unforgettable and interesting tour of the grand mosque
Dana knows her way both in the maze of the grand mosque and in the history of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. The tour was impressive and interesting. Without Dana, we would be lost and not understand the depth of this important place.

Not the tour we signed up for
Our guide was very young and seemed kind-hearted and well-intentioned, but unfortunately the tour itself was disappointing. She arrived about 45 minutes late, and once the tour began, she did not appear very knowledgeable about the history, architecture, or factual details of the mosque. Instead of focusing on an informative, educational tour, she frequently shifted into preaching about the Muslim faith and made negative comparisons about life and values in the USA. This became uncomfortable, especially as she repeatedly questioned a young member of our group about his faith, told him he was “lost,” and insisted he needed to have a faith. She also made statements suggesting that other religions mislead people and that Islam is the only correct faith. We came hoping for a respectful, informative tour of this beautiful and important mosque—not to be judged or shamed for our personal beliefs. It was unfortunate, because she genuinely seemed kind, but she did not conduct herself in a professional way expected of a tour guide.

Halima is a fantastic guide
Our tour started in not so good light light. Our guide arrived over 30 minutes late although communication was reasonable. Halima was very bubbly and passionate and nothing was too much trouble, she even made tea for us ( or a friend did!) We got to see all the sites and even a bit more, such as the library. Halima was fantastic, youthful and exuberant, sometimes erratic but passionate about her country. We had a great time and really learned a lot and enjoyed the sights and company.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Abu Dhabi.
How much does Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $271 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Abu Dhabi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Abu Dhabi is not rushed.
Is Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 52 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Abu Dhabi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour?
+
Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Abu Dhabi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Abu Dhabi and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Abu Dhabi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Abu Dhabi?
+
On Outty we rank every Abu Dhabi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubai Evening Desert Safari BBQ Premium Camp & optional Quad Bike, Abu Dhabi Desert Safari with Camel Ride BBQ Dinner and Live Shows, Desert Safari In Abu Dhabi With BBQ Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Abu Dhabi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Abu Dhabi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
