Odd experience
I would not recommend this experience. The chef’s husband was there which we were not expecting, and although the chef kept reminding us to keep our stations clean, she had to shoo her two annoying dogs off of the counter several times with her hand then she touched the food. And dessert was store bought dairy free yogurt. Pick a group class.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and have discussed them in detail with Brittney. She acknowledges that after briefly moving one of her dogs away from the cooking area, she should have washed her hands before returning to food preparation. She sincerely regrets this oversight, as food safety is something she takes very seriously. We've also updated her listing to make it even clearer that she has two dogs in her home. Additionally, we updated the experience description to better set expectations regarding occasions when her husband may be at home, even though he does not participate in the experience. Regarding dessert, Brittney made a last-minute decision not to serve the homemade truffles she had prepared because they didn't meet her standards. Instead, she created a chocolate dairy-free yogurt with cocoa and maple syrup, served with fresh strawberries and toasted walnuts. We genuinely appreciate your candid feedback. It helps us work closely with our hosts to continually improve the guest experience, and we're grateful you took the time to share it. We wish you all the best in your future travels.

Enjoying an in-home dinner caps off great visit to Seattle
What a wonderful experience! Brittney and her husband welcomed us into their home for a spectacular 3+hour experience like none other. We got to know each other while we participated in preparing an impressive meal … and we got culinary tips along the way. Brittney’s culinary skills are amazing! Our menu: Sockeye Salmon with Walnut Basil Pesto, Spinach Goat Cheese Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette, Za’atar Roasted Carrots and Chocolate Tahini Truffles with Pomegranate Molasses served with Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris from Oregon. The tastes in all were amazing!!! Put an in-home dinner with a chef from The Traveling Spoon on your “what-to-do-when-traveling” list. That’s what we did in Seattle… and will do so for future trips elsewhere. That’s because Brittney said the company has participating chefs in cities around the world! Thank you Brittney for welcoming us into your home for an experience we loved!!!

Wonderful culinary experience with Brittney
My wife, me and our two kids visited Brittney's home and cooked with her on my wife's birthday. It was a wonderful experience! All of us got to take part in the cooking process, we learned a lot from Brittney, prepared dishes we otherwise would've never got to taste, and the resulting meal was delicious. According to my wife, "I don't think if we'd gone to any restaurant in Seattle, it would've been as good as this!"

Delicious and fun
I got this class as a gift for my birthday and it was such a fun and delicious experience. Chef Brittney is such a great teacher and just a very wonderful person to talk to. She gave us some useful cooking and nutrition tips too that I know I’ll always use in my kitchen. And the food of course was absolutely delicious! I know I’ll make this dish again in the future. Thank you for making this birthday so special.

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seattle.
How much does Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home cost?
+
Prices start at $124 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seattle usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seattle is not rushed.
Is Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Seattle, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seattle can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seattle and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Seattle Cooking Class with a Chef in Her Home start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Seattle within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Seattle?
+
Seattle's best days leave the city: Mount Rainier, the San Juans, Olympic National Park and Snoqualmie Falls are all day-trip range, and each one lives or dies on the driver-guide. In town, Pike Place food tours, underground history walks and harbour cruises dominate. Our ranking favours operators with small vans over full coaches on the mountain runs. On Outty we rank every Seattle experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mt. Rainier Day Tour from Seattle, Seattle City and Snoqualmie Falls Half-Day Guided Tour, Mt. Rainier National Park Highlights Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Seattle?
+
June to September for clear Rainier views and reliable ferry weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Seattle?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
