    1. Akrotiri Archaeological Site

Uncover the myths and history of Santorini on a 5-hour guided tour of the Akrotiri excavations, a prehistoric Bronze Age city. During the Minoan volcanic eruption some 3,600 years ago, the city was frozen in time by ash that fell. Some speculate that this is the origin of Atlantis, a mythical town lost in time. Admire the elaborate drainage system, the sophisticated multi-storied buildings, magnificent wall paintings, excavated furniture, and vessels that show the former settlement’s great prosperity. Discover evidence of winemaking that has been estimated to date back to the 3rd Millennium BC, making Santorini one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world. Continue your wine discovery by strolling through the island’s basket vines at three wineries and learn about Santorini’s unique viticulture traditions. Taste a selection of 12 different wine styles from across Santorini and Greece, such as Assyrtiko, Nykteri, and the sublimely sweet Vinsanto wine.

    Unforgettable Experience in Santorini.

Exploring Santorini with Santorini Tours was absolute perfection! Our guide, Elias, went above and beyond for our group—showing us history, skipping crowds in Oia, capturing memorable photos, and taking us to enjoy delicious local gelato. The private tour ended with an incredible family cooking class and dinner at Aeolos with breathtaking views. Learning family recipes while looking over the sea created memories we will cherish forever. It was a seamless, five-star experience from start to finish!

    Best guide in Santorini!

We had such a lovely time on the tour. Nicolas was a fantastic guide for our party of 9. He picked us up at the top of the cable car in Fira after our cruise ship docked. He was great at navigating through the crowds though lesser traveled allies. He even bought a dessert for our friend's birthday. He went above and beyond. And the Venetsanos Winery is a must do for wine lovers who want to sip wine with amazing views. Thanks for the great tour!

Response from the operator: Dear Wendi, Thank you for your lovely feedback! We're glad your group had a smooth and enjoyable experience exploring Santorini. It’s great to hear that you could tailor the day to your preferences - especially with time to relax at the black sand beach and take in the island’s stunning views. Navigating Santorini’s roads can be tricky, so we’re happy that our guide made it easy and comfortable for everyone, from teens to little ones.

Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santorini.

How much does Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $325 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santorini usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santorini is not rushed.

Is Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santorini, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santorini can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santorini and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Santorini History and Wine Tasting 5-Hour Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santorini within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Santorini?

    +

On Outty we rank every Santorini experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Premium Catamaran Cruise in Santorini including Oia, Private Santorini Tailor Made - Choice of the Guest!, Private Classic Santorini Panorama: Visit Top Destinations. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Santorini?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Santorini?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
