Amazing experience in Rome
Enrica was such a knowledgeable guide. She gave us an extensive history of Rome and wove the details of each location so creatively into our day. She has boundless energy (taking us from one historic site to another- starting with the Collesium). Her enthusiasm and love for Rome is magical. It is very evident that she loves what she does! In addition, she asked us for input - so that she could personalize our experience. We visited two local establishments. One, where we tasted a delicious frozen coffee with creme treat. The other, for lunch, we enjoyed unique, local choices. Time flew so quickly and we must return another day to spend significant time in Rome. Highly recommended 👌 although the name says Francinie- our daughter in law's name...We are: Ilene and Richard
Response from the operator: Hello Ilene and Richard! Thank you for sharing your experience and for your lovely words. We are delighted to hear that your tour was a success and that it made you want to come back to Rome. Enrica is one of our best guides and we are happy that you had such a wonderful time with her. Thank you for choosing our company and we can't wait to welcome you back with us in the future!

Amazing day in rome
The day of the excursion- the driver - Andrea reached out to confirm meeting time and location. It was comforting to have his contact info. He drove us to Rome- taking short cuts to get around traffic. We met Enriqua and ran to the colosseum because we were late. But she got us in and we had a amazing tour with her. She was so knowledgeable and informative. We were able to see so much because we were a group of 4 so we’re able to move quickly through crowds. After we went back to the car (we paid extra to have the car available) and we saw the trevo fountain and a number of other sights before stopping for lunch. We then went to the Vatican and she did an amazing tour there. So much to see and it was quick. Wish we had more time but had to get back to the ship. An amazing day. Highlight of our cruise. Highly recommend
Response from the operator: Ciao Joan! It is wonderful to hear that you had such a great experience and that your tour with us was the highlight of your cruise. Enrica is a truly fantastic guide and we are glad to hear that you think so too. We are fortunate to work with amazing guides that are indeed experts in their subject matter. Thank you again for your review and we can’t wait to welcome you back with us in the future!

Best tour of our trip!
Great communication prior to our tour and even the morning of the tour. The pickup (and drop off) at the cruise ship and then to our guide went smoothly. Our tour guide Valeria was absolutely amazing! She spoke English well, was so knowledgeable about the city, covered all the main attractions, and got us into them quickly, bypassing the long lines. This was the only excursion we booked separate from the cruise ship, and it was by far the best tour of our trip.
Response from the operator: Ciao Gwen! Grazie mille for taking time to leave a review about your Rome Shore Excursion! We are so delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your time discovering Rome with Valeria and that all aspects when smoothly! That's just the kind of experience we aim to provide and we'll be sure to pass along your lovely feedback as we know it will make her day! Hope to see you again soon! Thanks again! Amanda

Walking was terrible. Not suggested for 75 year olds
Nothing . Walking was too much Guide was very knowledgeable Driver was late with pickup because of traffic
Response from the operator: Dear Joseph, Thank you for taking time to leave us a review of your shore excursion. We’re thrilled you thought your guide was very knowledgeable! That is certainly what we expect of our talented guides but we’re very sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy the walking portion of the tour. Despite that, we do hope you have fond memories of your time in the Eternal City! Thanks again and best regards, Amanda

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia cost?
+
Prices start at $671 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Rome Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
