Awesome road bike tour through DC.
My family and I have been on over a dozen guided bike tours throughout the world. This tour with Jim was an exceptional experience from the moment he picked us up at our hotel to our drop-off at the end of the day. The bikes were the highest quality we’ve ever used. The routes ran mostly on car-free roads and paths through an unexpected national treasure — Rock Creek Park. Jim has a tremendous depth of knowledge about the area, but more than that, he’s simply a wonderful guy who really knows his bikes. He earned a Watson Fellowship in college to bike around the world, and later served as president of the National Bike Alliance. We can’t recommend this tour enough!
Response from the operator: Thanks Josh for your enthusiastic review. I'm so glad you had a great ride enjoying Rock Creek Park. It is especially fun on road bikes given the smooth pavement winding through the forests of one of our oldest national parks! Thanks so much for letting me share such a great place with you and your son.

Fun on Wheels
Our day with Jeff was exceptional! He planned a route for us that was just right for our cycling ability and interests and then added the special touches that only he can bring - namely contagious enthusiasm mixed with a deep knowledge of fun/interesting history, bike safety and skill, and off-the-beaten path routes around the city. Plus, he’s such a great guy, you can’t help but have fun when you tour with Jeff. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Nancy, I'm blushing and so happy that you and your crew had such a great time exploring some of the great trails and back roads around DC and Maryland with me. I hope I can guide you on another ride in a whole other part of the region next time!

See sites up close and enjoy the journey getting there. Hire DC Cycling Concierge
Couples DC Cycling Concierge. We are experienced cyclists who prefer to use bikes for short trips. We are doing a slow relocation to the area and need to learn quicker and safer bike ways. We were thrilled how Jeff took us on bike ways the locals know. He explained safety measures at the start, designed routes focused on our learning goals and even did a roadside repair on my wife’s bike. Jeff was totally attentive, quickly assessed our riding skill level and set a route and pace that really worked for us. We would like to ride with him again. Response from the operator: Chris, I'm so glad to show you and your wife some great ways to safely get from your new condo to some of the great riding in our region. This region is so wonderful for cycling and I love helping connect the dots so people can enjoy biking even more.

THE Best Way to See DC
Our DC Cycling Concierge ride was my best and most memorable ride of 2024! Jeff seemingly knows every fact, story, character of Washington's history, places and people PLUS he knows the safest, fastest and most scenic way to get from one place to another on a bike. Riding with DC Cycling Concierge is the best and most fun way to explore DC, see the sights and learn about the past and present.
Response from the operator: Thanks Nancy for your kind praise! That was a very fun road ride and I was psyched to show you two several key monuments and the US Capitol and hit some sweet trail and road riding too. Thanks so much for letting me show you around and GEEZ - most memorable ride of the year? I feel like I got a Guide Grammy!

This ride exceeded expectations
Met at my hotel I was expecting a good ride out along the Potomac. I got that. What I wasn’t expecting was the font of knowledge and the fascinating insights about the history of the places we passed. A pretty unique experience.
Response from the operator: Martin - great riding with you! That was a blast of a 50 road ride! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and that it exceeded your expectations. I'll hope to ride with you again someday!

Why this scores 49
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Road Ride Out & Around DC: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Washington DC.
How much does Private Road Ride Out & Around DC cost?
+
Prices start at $395 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Washington DC usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Road Ride Out & Around DC take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Washington DC is not rushed.
Is Private Road Ride Out & Around DC worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Washington DC, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Road Ride Out & Around DC?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Road Ride Out & Around DC suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Road Ride Out & Around DC?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Washington DC can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Washington DC and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Road Ride Out & Around DC start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Washington DC within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Washington DC?
+
Washington is the rare city where the headline attractions cost nothing and the scarce resource is access. Timed entry to the Smithsonian museums, Capitol and White House tours, and the night monument runs by bike or bus are what fill up. Our ranking rewards operators who secure the passes themselves rather than telling you to sort it out at the door. On Outty we rank every Washington DC experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Washington DC Small-Group Sightseeing Experience, Washington DC "See the City" Guided Sightseeing Segway Tour, Arlington Cemetery Small-Group Tour & Changing of the Guards. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Washington DC?
+
Late March to April for cherry blossom, or September to November for cool museum weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Washington DC?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
