    About this experience

Discover the elegance and rich history of Potsdam on a private tour from Berlin, exploring the former royal residence of the Prussian kings and German emperors. Nearby, stop at the famous Glienicke Bridge, known as the “Bridge of Spies,” where Cold War spy exchanges between East and West once took place. Stroll through the beautiful Sanssouci Park, home to the elegant Sanssouci Palace, Frederick the Great’s beloved summer residence, as well as the grand New Palace, built to demonstrate Prussian power and prestige. Along the way, see the tranquil Friedenskirche, inspired by Italian architecture, and pass through Potsdam’s Brandenburg Gate while exploring charming squares and historic streets.

    Potsdam‘s Fascinating Story with Maria

Beyond Potsdam’s natural & architectural charms, we loved how Maria weaved the story of place into snippets of history from 17th century Prussia to current efforts to learn from & never repeat the evils of the 3rd Reich & the Soviet puppet GDR.

    Perfect Private Potsdam Tour

We got a super cool personalized tour, and our guide Glen was fantastic! We also got to learn how to navigate the German transit system. Glen learned what we were interested in, as our entire Europe trip had been WWII-focused, and really gave us details and insight around Potsdam, and the events and people that led up to both World Wars. Potsdam had a significant part to play, which I definitely did not know. There is also some beautiful and unique architecture around Potsdam, which I loved taking pictures of. Glen was very friendly and super knowledgeable, if you are looking for an excellent private tour to Potsdam definitely book this!

Response from the operator: Dear Jason_K, Thank you for your fantastic feedback! We’re thrilled that Glen’s knowledge, friendliness, and personalized approach made our private tour to Potsdam so engaging and insightful. It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed the history, architecture, and tips on the best photo tips from Glen! Insider Tour Berlin

We will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. All the best, Insider Tour Team

    Best tour ever!

Mikhail was AMAZING! It was unexpectedly cold and we got rained on as well, but he still made it an extremely fun experience. I went with a group of my girlfriends all of us are college age, and there were some older couples there too, and everyone was able to enjoy themselves equally. He knows his way around and if anything ever seems closed, he will find his way in for you.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that Mikhail made the tour fun and engaging despite the chilly and rainy weather. It’s great that everyone in your group, from college friends to older couples, had a fantastic experience. Mikhail’s dedication to making sure you get the best out of the tour really shines through. Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Berlin.

How much does Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings cost?

    +

Prices start at $348 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Berlin usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Berlin is not rushed.

Is Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Berlin, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Berlin can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Berlin and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Potsdam -- Old town, Sanssouci Palace & Gardens of Kings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Berlin within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Berlin?

    +

On Outty we rank every Berlin experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Berlin's Best: 2 Hour Walking Tour Third Reich and the Cold War, Communist East Berlin and Berlin Wall Small Group Walking Tour, Sachsenhausen concentration camp.. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Berlin?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Berlin?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
