    What you'll see and do

    1. Archaeological Park of Pompeii

Pompei is the most famous and the most visited archaeological site in Italy, but also the best preserved for the way it was buried in ash and pumice after a tremendous eruption of mount Vesuvius in 79 a.d. The Pompei city stayed buried for about 18 centuries and then it was rediscovered together with the other smaller city of Herculaneum. Still nowadays some of it is waiting to be excavated. In Pompeii you may spend a couple of hours in order to see the best of highlights like the Forum, which is the main square of the ancient city and its political, religious, commercial heart. Around the Forum are the most important civic buildings of Pompeii and also the best preserved public Baths, Terme del Foro, where you can appreciate not only the good state of preservation of some vaulted roofs, but also the best of stuccoed relief, and original mosaic floors, together with a very sophisticated example of central heating system.

    2. Sorrento

The tour from Pompeii will proceed along the twisty bendy Sorrentina state road, which will lead you onto Sorrento, the pearl of the whole coast. You will agree with driver some free time to explore at your pace some Sorrento historical centre with the tiny colourful lanes full of the traditional shops selling souvenirs, among them the famous inlaid wood work and agree free time for lunch if you wish.

      120 minutes here

    3. Positano

After the Sorrento break you will be heading towards the most dramatic scenery of the gorgeous Amalfi coast with its rocky, lime stone cliffs, sloping down to the most amazing emerald blue colours of Tyrrhenian Sea. Your private driver will approach the closest point to the Positano historical centre, where big vehicles are not permitted, and give you time to explore the whole of the village, where to be fully immersed in a most unreal atmosphere which is what one can fully breath through the tiny little streets and flight of steps, leading down to the big sandy Marina beach, and close to the parish local church of Annunziata, with its majolica dome towering the whole village.

Great Day on the Amalfi Coast!

We had a great tour of Sorrento and Positano. Our guides (Pio and Nando) were extremely helpful, informative, and attentive throughout the entire day. They made everything easy for us and gave us plenty of information about the different places we visited without ever making the day feel rushed. Sorrento and Positano were absolutely beautiful, and having such knowledgeable and friendly guides made the experience even better. We really enjoyed the day and would definitely recommend this tour!

Better than we had hoped - memories made!!

Our driver, Lorenzo, was a local and was very accommodating dating while still providing excellent guidance on how to best take advantage of the time we had. He had wonderful recommendations- the most delightful of which was a hidden farm to table gem we never could never have found on our own. This was a little splurge for us and it was very much money well spent. Leno sensed the rhythm of what we needed and provided exactly that!

    Excellent experience!

This was a phenomenal experience for us. Our driver Gennaro was so hospitable, accommodating and personable. Also an excellent driver! Highly recommend them. We had just arrived from the US early morning and did not want mess with trains or taxis. We were able to incorporate our own itinerary of stops at a winery and site seeing along the way. Would use them again.

    Great private tour experience

Our private driver, Pino, was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Positano and all things in between. He gave us great recommendations for lunch, dessert, shopping, etc... We had a few extra minutes before we had to return to the train station so he drove us part way up Mt. Vesuvius to a beautiful overlook. Everything about this private tour and experience was perfect. Thank you Pino!

    Best Tour Company Ever!!!

Four of us girls did a dream come true trip to Italy and decided to book car transfers and a private tour with Sorrento silver star tours. From the first email with Luisa, I knew this was the right company. Luisa was so responsive to every email, text and even phone call and made everything fall into place very easily. We were picked up promptly from the port after our cruise in a beautiful clean Mercedes van and had an incredible drive to our Airbnb with Pino. The following day was the most amazing tour with Gennaro. We had such a blast and he was so knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We were very excited when he was our driver again when we to leave at six in the morning for our ride back to Naples. We hope to come back again someday to see more beautiful Italy and will for sure. Use only this company for all of our needs. Thank you, Luisa, Gennaro and Pino. 🤗❤️

Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $133 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

    +

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
