Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees. Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording amazing photo opportunities. Keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators, including an albino alligator. Note: This tour does not include hotel pick-up or drop-off unless option selected at checkout.

Everything we hoped for in a swamp boat tour!

This was our first time to Louisiana and we wanted a genuine swamp tour, and boy did we get one! Our guide, Jay, is a bonafide Cajun (a direct descendant of Jean Lafitte himself) and he was incredibly knowledgeable about everything we asked, from history, to ecology, and botany. He wowed us immeasurably when he pulled the boat off into a little bay inside the swamp and started shouting Cajun French out into the trees, and lo and behold no fewer than four alligators came out to greet us, the largest of which he kissed on the mouth! When we return to southern Louisiana, and whenever we have friends visit, we will be doing/recommending this tour and we will be asking for Jay!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this fantastic review! We always love to hear when our exceptional guides leave an impression on our guests! Come back and see us!

BEWARE! Horrible company to deal with!

BEWARE! Our boat broke down about 30 minutes into our ride and we spent the next 45 minutes in the middle of the swamp waiting for the replacement boat to find us. We were then taken directly back to the dock and our ride was over because they had to get back in time for the next group. It didn't matter that we had missed 45 minutes of our experience. I contacted customer service to address the issue and they told me they absolutely do not give refunds once the boat leaves the dock. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. We spend almost $800 for the most disappointing experience of our vacation.

Response from the operator: Hi there, thank you for leaving a detailed review on what happened with your tour. We're sorry to hear that the matter did not get resolved fairly for you! Could please email us at info@airboatadventures.com with any information (your confirmation number, boat number, or captain's name) so that we can look further into this matter.

Forced Family Fun Airboat Gator Tour

Our guide, Ronnie, was fantastic! His knowledge, expertise, and five generation passion for the river was evident! He really connected with our family-especially our granddaughters! Thank you, Ronnie!

Ronnie "Alligator" Bundy is the best!

My extended family met up in New Orleans for mini reunion just before Christmas. One of the highlights of our trip was the Airboat Adventures private airboat tour. Ronnie "Alligator" Bundy, our guide and captain made the tour so much fun. He was knowledgeable, fun, engaging and authentic. The boat was comfortable for our large group, the shuttle from downtown was timely and convenient, and the tour was informative and enjoyed by all three generations in attendance. But it really was Ronnie who made it memorable.

Response from the operator: We're happy to hear that Captain Ronnie showed you and your party such a great time on your swamp tour! Thank you for letting Airboat Adventures show you all the beauty of Louisiana!

Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New Orleans.

How much does Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New Orleans usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 1.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New Orleans is not rushed.

Is Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New Orleans, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New Orleans can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New Orleans and add a light layer if any part of the 1.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private New Orleans Airboat Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New Orleans within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in New Orleans?

    +

New Orleans runs on licensed guides, and it shows: the city requires certification for tour guides, so the floor is higher here than most US cities. Ghost and cemetery walks, French Quarter food crawls, plantation history day trips and swamp boat runs make up the bulk. We rank on whether the operator handles cemetery access properly, since St. Louis No. 1 needs an authorised guide. On Outty we rank every New Orleans experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include New Orleans Swamp and Bayou Boat Tour with Transportation, New Orleans Swamp Tour Boat Adventure, New Orleans Self-Transport Swamp and Bayou Boat Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New Orleans?

    +

February to May and October to November. August is heat and storm season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New Orleans?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
