The Dharavi Slum, Banganga Tank, Malabar Hill, the Dabbawala lunch delivery, Gandhi’s home, temples, local markets, and a beautiful park were all expertly guided by Janna, with every stop offering fascinating insight into Mumbai’s history, culture, and daily life. Janna is an exceptional guide who brings each location to life with engaging explanations of its history and significance. His firsthand knowledge and personal experience made the day truly memorable. If you’re looking for a professional, and passionate guide to the real Mumbai, I highly recommend Janna. This tour was the highlight of my visit.

Great experience, friendly guide!

It was auch a great experience! The meeting point was perfect, punctually and at the right place. We got pick up from the tour guide Janna with a taxi. We got a tour to the washing district in Mumbai, from there we went by train to Dharavi. Janna took pictures of us in front of the washing area and on the train. We got of the train near to Dharavi. Dharavi was a special experience, I would recommend it to everybody. Before I wasn’t sure if I should do a slum tour. Before the trip I talked to Indian people and to friends who have already done the slum tour in Dharavi. The people who live there don’t think it’s strange to go there. You should behave with respect, sonst take Videos or pictures randomly. I can definitely recommend to do that tour. Janna was a great guide, he explained everything very well. His English is very good, so I personally could understand everything he said. He answered all the questions. He is a very sympathetic and authentic guy who is not pretending being friendly to tourists. He really is friendly from his heart! After the tour we got a taxi ride home to our hotel.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure showing you around Mumbai and sharing the real Dharavi experience. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour, and your kind words truly mean a lot. Wishing you safe travels, and we hope to welcome you back to Mumbai someday.

Magnificent Mumbai!

We experienced both the Mumbai Slum Tour and the City Sightseeing Tour, and together they gave us a truly balanced and eye-opening view of the city. From iconic landmarks to hidden alleys, the tours offered a powerful contrast between Mumbai’s glamour and its resilience. Every place we visited had a story, and we came away with a deeper appreciation for the spirit of the city. Our guide was amazing — friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. During the slum tour, we saw a vibrant, hard-working community full of life and creativity. The sightseeing tour was equally impressive, with well-timed stops and thoughtful explanations. These tours showed us the real Mumbai — rich, raw, and unforgettable.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words! We’re so happy you enjoyed both the Slum and City Sightseeing tours and that they gave you a deeper connection with Mumbai. Your guide will be thrilled to hear your appreciation. We look forward to welcoming you again to explore more of the city! 🌟

Slum tour

"Great way to see the real Mumbai!" I really enjoyed this tour. Visiting the slum was an eye-opening experience — people were working hard, and there was so much going on, from recycling to small workshops. It felt safe and respectful. After that, we saw the cities attraction like the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, the train station ,temples and a fabric market . It was a good mix of local life and tourist spots. The guide was very knowledgeable and he explained us everything very well If you want to understand how people really live in Mumbai and also see the top sights, I highly recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re glad you found the slum tour eye-opening and respectful, and also enjoyed exploring Mumbai’s famous landmarks. Our team works hard to provide a mix of local life and sightseeing, so your kind words mean a lot. We hope to welcome you again for more unique experiences in Mumbai! 🌟

Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide cost?

+

Prices start at $3000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Mumbai Slum and Sightseeing Tour with Car and Guide start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

+

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Group Guided Walking Tour in Fort and Colaba, Dharavi Slum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
