My first night in Mumbai and I'm so glad I booked this private experience

I was visiting Mumbai for the first time and travelling solo, so I wanted to see the city properly but also wanted something private and comfortable. I booked this night experience from around 6pm to midnight, and honestly, it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. It was a private experience with just me, my guide Gurmit and the driver. This was one of the things I liked most. There was no big group, no waiting for other tourists and no feeling of being rushed from one place to another. Everything was well planned, but we still had the freedom to enjoy each place. Gurmit was a fantastic guide. He knows Mumbai really well and is very popular with the locals. What I liked was that he didn't make the evening feel like a history lesson. We talked, laughed, asked questions and he showed me things from a more local point of view. Since I was travelling alone, I also felt very comfortable throughout the evening. We started getting into the Mumbai atmosphere as the sun was going down. The city completely changes at night. The streets get busy, the lights come on and suddenly you understand why people say Mumbai never really stops. Then came my first vada pav. I had heard so much about it before coming to Mumbai, so I had to try it. It was hot, spicy and honestly much tastier than I expected. It's such a simple snack, but it became one of my favourite little memories from the evening. I'm also a serious coffee person, so at some point I told Gurmit I wanted coffee. He could have easily taken me somewhere familiar, but instead he suggested a local coffee place rather than Starbucks. I thought, okay, let's try it. And wow — I'm glad I listened. The coffee was really good, and I actually preferred having that local experience. For me, that's what made the tour feel different. It wasn't just about seeing Mumbai; I was getting to experience little parts of it. We then continued towards the Gateway of India and the Taj Hotel. Seeing them lit up at night was beautiful. We stopped, took our time and enjoyed the atmosphere instead of just taking a quick photo and moving on. After that we went to Colaba Market. This was another fun part of the evening. Walking through the market, looking at the shops and seeing the crowds gave me a completely different feeling of Mumbai. It was busy and chaotic in the best possible way. But if I had to choose just one favourite moment from the entire experience, it would be Marine Drive. We sat there for a while and enjoyed the sea breeze. After hours of exploring the city, it was so relaxing just sitting by the water and looking at Mumbai at night. The skyline, the lights, the sound of the sea and the breeze were incredible. Honestly, I didn't want to leave. That moment alone made the evening worth it for me. Eventually it was getting close to midnight, so we headed back. Since I was travelling solo, I really appreciated that the driver dropped me safely back at my hotel. Looking back, I feel like I got a real taste of Mumbai in just one evening. I experienced the food, the coffee, the markets, the famous landmarks, the architecture, the sea and the atmosphere of the city at night — but more importantly, I experienced it with someone who actually knows Mumbai. The fact that it was private made a huge difference. Just me, my guide and the driver. The evening was well organised, comfortable and easy, but never felt like I was being pushed through an itinerary. And for me, it was absolutely worth it. If you're visiting Mumbai for the first time, especially if you're travelling solo or as a couple and want a private experience rather than a big group tour, I would definitely recommend this. Gurmit, thank you for showing me Mumbai in such a memorable way. I came expecting to see the city, but I left feeling like I had actually experienced it. 5 stars from me. Would I do it again? Absolutely yes.

    Last Minute Mumbai Experience

We only had about 5 hours in Mumbai, so we honestly didn’t know how much we would be able to see. Our kids really wanted to explore the city, so we decided to book a tour at the last minute. We found Mumbai Tour Vision online and messaged Gurmit on WhatsApp. He replied almost immediately with the price and a plan, and within about an hour he was at our hotel to pick us up at 7 PM. We were honestly impressed with how quickly everything came together. In just a few hours, we visited the Gateway of India, CSMT Station and Marine Drive, and even had time for dinner at Pizza By The Bay. The pizza and pasta were great! Gurmit made everything so easy — we didn’t have to worry about where to go, transport or timing. He was friendly, patient with our kids and made sure we enjoyed the evening. Our children especially loved seeing Mumbai at night. For such a short visit, we were surprised by how much we got to see and experience. Thank you, Gurmit, for making our last-minute decision such a memorable part of our trip. We had a wonderful evening and would definitely book with Mumbai Tour Vision again when we’re back in Mumbai!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Bhavesh Patel, for sharing such a detailed review! 🙏 It was a pleasure hosting you and your family, especially on such short notice. I’m so glad we could put together a memorable Mumbai experience within just a few hours. From Gateway of India and CSMT to Marine Drive and dinner by the bay, I’m happy you were able to experience so much of the city in a short time. 😊 It was wonderful to hear that the children enjoyed seeing Mumbai at night, and I truly appreciate your kind words about the service, flexibility, and planning. A fantastic way to experience the real Mumbai

Mumbai is such a fascinating city. There is something happening everywhere you look, from the historic buildings and busy streets to the markets, local food, people and everyday life. Seeing it all with someone who truly knows the city made the experience even better. Gurmit was an excellent guide and made the whole day so enjoyable. We kept asking him questions throughout the tour and he always had an answer, usually followed by a funny story that had us laughing. His humour and personality made spending the day with him one of our favourite parts of the tour. We didn't just visit the well-known sights. We learnt about Mumbai's history, culture, people and everyday life, and got a much better feel for what the city is really like. It felt like we were experiencing Mumbai rather than simply ticking off tourist attractions. And of course, we had to try vada pav 🌶️ It was spicy, hot and absolutely delicious! Everything was taken care of. The entry tickets and parking were included, the car was comfortable, and we had plenty of drinking water throughout the day to keep us hydrated in the Mumbai heat. By the end of the tour, we had learnt so much and experienced parts of Mumbai that we probably would have missed on our own. If you want to see Mumbai, understand Mumbai and get a real feel for the city, we would definitely recommend this tour. Gurmit and Mumbai Tour Vision made our day in Mumbai genuinely memorable. Regards, Kathy Mappa & Philip Tashkent

    Absolutely Outstanding Mumbai Tour ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our private Mumbai city tour with Mumbai Tour Vision was absolutely wonderful. We were lucky to have Gurmit, the owner, as our guide — he was warm, knowledgeable, patient and genuinely passionate about Mumbai. He gave us a real feel for the city, its people, culture, history, local life and food, and we especially enjoyed trying the famous vada pav! Our daughter loved the experience too, which made the day even more special for our family. The SUV was clean, spacious and comfortably air-conditioned, and our driver was polite, professional and drove very safely through Mumbai’s busy traffic. From start to finish, everyone was professional, caring and welcoming. A truly memorable family experience and easily a 10/10! Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport cost?

    +

Prices start at $86 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 109 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport?

    +

Around 38 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Mumbai City Tour with Guide and Transport start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
