Fantastic MTB trail experience
I had two days with Bevan, taking me along two very technical trails in the Cape. A great experience and a lot of fun with Bevan. I’ll be back soon! And highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys mountain biking.

Perfect day / Franschhoek wine farms
We did a full-day Winelands Meander through Franschhoek with the wonderful Leilo. Not only is she a fabulous cycling guide, her knowledge of wine is even more impressive. She shared this knowledge and helped us deepen our understanding of specific wines and regional differences and made our day extra special. Thank you Leilo!
Response from the operator: Dear Sherpa39627153916, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the AWOL Tours full-day Winelands Meander through Franschhoek. We are thrilled to hear that you had such a memorable day with our guide, Leilo. Our AWOL Tours guides are certified and experienced professionals who are passionate about sharing what they love most, and it’s wonderful to know that Lelo's knowledge of wine and the region added so much to your experience. We’re delighted that she helped deepen your understanding of specific wines and regional differences, making your day extra special. Our private tours are designed to be flexible, allowing guests to enjoy the day at their own pace, with as much (or as little) cycling as they prefer. The full-day Winelands Meander tour offers a variety of cycling options suitable for all levels, with a support vehicle always close at hand. Thank you again for your very much appreciated recommendation. We hope to welcome you back on another AWOL adventure in the future. Kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours

Botterlay Hills Mountain Biking Tour
I had a fantastic half day mountain ride in the Botterlary Hills with Bevan. Beautiful views to the mountains behind Stellenbosch and across to False Bay. Bevan got the level just right for me and my slightly dodgy back, so not very technical, but I still had to do some work up and down the switchbacks :) We had a good laugh too, Bevan is a proper expert in all aspects of mountain biking, but carries it lightly, offers advice gently and quietly attentive - you barely notice he's looking out for you. His love of the ride is contagious and I found myself doing things I wouldn't have done on my own (but no wheelies yet :D ). Also the office team (thank you!) are responsive, lovely and sort everything out effortlessly. Loved it, and will be a staple for every future visit to Cape Town.
Response from the operator: Dear Sam, Thank you for taking the time to review and recommend your AWOL Tours half day mountain bike adventure with AWOL Guide Bevan. Our mountain biking guides love sharing their favourite trails with our guests. Private tours allows for more flexibility so that our team can really customize the experience according to the client's cycling preference; we can offer more technical trails for experienced riders, flowing down hills with breath taking views, and easy beginner trails. We also have full day and half day mountain biking adventures ( or early morning rides). All our mountain biking adventures end with an excellent coffee or an award winning tasting depending on location. Thank you for trusting AWOL Tours with your holiday and thank you again for this very much appreciated recommendation. Kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours.

Mtb in Jonkershoek and Banshoek
We contacted AWOL asking for an enduro oriented experience near Cape Town and they nailded it! Our guide Oliver picked us at our appartment and we picked some really specialized turbo levos sl at a bike shop and went to Jonkershoek. The trails there offer a lot of different options; flowy and rocky ones are very enjoyable regardless of the level. After Jonkershoek we had lunch at a very nice restaurant for a very decent price and afterwards we headed to Banhoek and it was exellent, it can hardly get better. Worth mentioning Oliver is more than just an mtb guide, talking with him is a pleasure. He explained us some history about the region and the country and he also gave us some great recommendations. Couldn’t have gone better
Response from the operator: Dear polg715, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your private winelands mountain biking adventure with AWOL Tours. We are so pleased that we provided the experience you were hoping for and that you enjoyed the company and expertise of your AWOL Tours mountain biking guide Oliver. Private mountain biking tours allow our guides to ensure that our guests can experience trails to their personal riding preferences; we have beginner ( gentle and scenic ) to advanced trails available with either half day or full day rides depending on available time frames. For our guests who only have a couple of hours available we can organise early morning Table Mountain mountain biking rides with sweeping of views of Cape Town city below. Thank you again for choosing AWOL Tours and the very much appreciated review. All the best with your travels from here, kind regards, Helen for AWOL Tours.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town cost?
+
Prices start at $3695 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Mountain Biking Tour from Cape Town start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
