Worth the effort but train appropriately.

Really good experience, tougher than I expected. It was a grind from top to bottom, ruthless incline that doesn’t stop till you hit the top. Took about 12hrs with plenty of breaking. We made good progress up and chilled for about 1.5hrs at Basecamp/Checkpoint 5 around a fire before making the last 1-1.5hr push to the top. Our Guide Boodie was a good dude and made the experience enjoyable, he even collected a large bag of plastic bottles on the way down that locals had left as it was a celebration holiday and a lot of young Balinese kids were camping and hike the same day we did, encouraging the kids to clean up after themselves along the way.

    Mount Agung ascent adventure

My partner and I travelled to the summit with our wonderful guide Juna. It was a challenging climb but the assistance of Juna allowed us to pace ourselves whilst maintaining a safe footing. Summiting in the dark made the sunrise even more spectacular on gazing over our ascent path. A truly wonderful experience and than you.

good value with great service and nice walk and view

We booked direct to the 'Sunrise Trekking' website. A friendly driver with very good english picked us up and drove us to the Besakih Trailhead where local Mountain Guides also with good english took over. We got a free cup of tea, bottle of drinking water and a big bag of snacks. We then walked pretty much all nite to the top with the experienced guide knowing good places for breaks and how to pace ourselves to arrive for sunrise. We took the longer trek from Besakih to the very top for 360 views but be prepared for a very long and demanding trek. Can also see into the crater and much of the same view from the shorter Agung trailhead. If just wanting a Bali Volcano experience then the much shorter and easier Mount Batur Trek is an enjoyable option.

Perfect guided sunrise trekking tour to explore Mount Agung!!

We had the best experience with these guys!! We were a bit late to book the trekking to mount Agung but they reacted very clear and fast through whatsapp which made it possible for us to do the trekking the same day. We immediatly got all the information we needed and thats how we like it. Our driver Kadek picked us up and was realy friendly and open for a conversation. We met our guide Kaki and he was amazing!! In the beginning he put up a fast pace since we started a bit late but after an hour (when he knew we had plenty of time to make it before sunrise) he slowed down and explained we could take it easy. We made plenty of stops to rest and we reached the summit just before sunrise (Kaki paced it perfectly so you don't have to stand to long on the cold summit). He had a lot of knowledge about the area and was super funny. On the way down he helped where needed and if he noticed you were a bit less confident on certain sections, he stayed with you and explained how to do it as safe as possible. All in all we couldn't ask for a better day and realy enjoyed it!!

Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.

How much does Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.

Is Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 159 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure?

    +

Around 56 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Mount Agung Sunrise Summit Trek: Bali Volcano Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ubud?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ubud?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ubud?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
