    Amazing experience!

Lucia's cooking class was an absolute highlight of our trip, fun, unique, and completely unforgettable. She welcomed us into her beautiful home, and from the moment we arrived it felt less like a class and more like being hosted by an old friend. Lucia is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about Mexican food and cooking traditions, and that passion made every step of the experience engaging and memorable. Her warmth as a host made the whole group feel completely at ease. We left with full stomachs, new skills, and great memories. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!

An amazing private cooking experience to kick off our trip!

Cooking with Lucia was an absolutely phenomenal way to start our trip in Mexico City. A private cooking experience, my girlfriend and I met Lucia at the market and got to tour it – meeting different vendors, learning about product and spice selection, and getting to meet vendors at the market for a quick bite! Afterwards, we went back to Lucias beautiful home to cook our meal using the fresh ingredients selected at the market and got to work! Lucia was knowledgeable, patient, and paid great attention to our requests for the dishes we made (hosting-friendly ones!) Our menu was fantastic and as someone with culinary experience it was a great way to try some new dishes and learn new techniques! Leaving the experience with Lucia, I feel confident to make the dishes on my own. Adding to an already great experience, Lucia went out of her way to share the recipes and recommendations for the rest of our stay in Mexico City. The next time we're in the city we'd love to visit again! Thank you Lucia!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that your time with Lucia was such a memorable way to begin your trip to Mexico City. It’s fantastic to know you enjoyed exploring the local market, meeting the vendors, and learning about the ingredients before heading to Lucia’s beautiful home to prepare your meal together. We're so glad she tailored the menu to your requests and shared her knowledge and techniques in a way that left you feeling confident to recreate the dishes at home. We're also delighted that Lucia's thoughtful recommendations for the rest of your stay made your experience even more special. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation. We'll be sure to share your feedback with Lucia, and we hope to welcome you back for another memorable culinary experience the next time you're in Mexico City!

Wonderful Cooking and Learning Experience with Lucia!

My family and I just had the most amazing cooking and learning experience with Lucia! My wife and I love to cook and try to do a cooking class when we visit new countries and cultures. So we have done many over the years and our experience was Lucia was one of the best! We were with our two daughters and sons-in-law so there were 6 of us. Lucia lives in a beautiful home with a spacious kitchen. After we arrived and put on our aprons she explained in detail what we were going to cook and the process. Her English was perfect. She then put us all to work giving us specific tasks to do and managing all of it. Lucia also had an assistant, Eva, who was helping us with various techniques and kept things clean and organized. We made many dishes: two salsas, red and green; two types of quesadillas, huitlacoche and squash blossom; sopes with beans and chorizo; a cactus salad; green mole chicken; and a dessert made with the cactus Xoconostle. We also made all of the tortillas we used, including kneading the masa, and pressing them differently for the quesadillas, sopes, and the ones we ate with our meal. Having been a teacher of gastronomic history before starting her cooking school, Lucia taught us a lot about the food as we were making it. After we prepared all the food, she served us what we had cooked, along with drinks (beer and tequila for those who wanted it), and we feasted on it all while enjoying her backyard view. Lucia provided recipes for what we had cooked by email and offered to answer any questions we had. The whole experience was great and I cannot recommend this cooking class highly enough, especially for a family or small group of friends. Thank you, Lucia!

    Fun cooking class!

We had a great cooking class with Lucia. The class was held at her home which had a large and roomy kitchen. Her backyard was beautiful. She gave us options of what to cook so we had input for the menu. The recipes were simple enough that we knew we could replicate at home. Her English was fantastic so we understood everything she was explaining to us. It was a lot of work and everything turned out great! Definitely recommend this cooking class with Lucia!

PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.

How much does PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia cost?

    +

Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.

Is PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 126 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia?

    +

Around 44 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does PRIVATE Mexico City Cooking Class with Culinary Historian Lucia start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mexico City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Teotihuacan 3 Pyramids Tour + Hotel Pick Up + Lunch at La Gruta, Historic Center Essentials: Mexico City Downtown Walking Tour, PREMIUM Frida Kahlo Museum and Xochimilco (Small Groups). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
