It will be 3 hours of Guatemalan magic, you will live a stately experience, where I will show you the cuisine of Guatemala. I will take you to my house that is located in one of the most exclusive areas of the city, you enjoy beautiful avenues from a 21st floor, and I will invite you to cook in my kitchen, I will take you back to the past with a demonstration of a Mayan ceremony, and we will be tasting the dish that you choose, I will explain step by step and where your dish comes from. Includes 3 times where I choose your entry and posts I am is a surprise to you. I use fresh and seasonal ingredients, traveling more than 200 km to bring the best of Guatemala and include it in your food. Depending on the season we can make hot cocoa, a surprise gift from our culture, I will take home a special ingredient, a photo with a typical Guatemalan costume. The hours of 11 am are the only ones where we will visit the Traditional Market

    A Must-Do in Guatemala City 🇬🇹

We originally planned to spend the day lounging by the pool, but while looking for somewhere to have dinner, we came across this experience and we are SO glad we changed our plans. Chef Wilfredo picked us up directly from our hotel and took us to a traditional Guatemalan market to shop for the ingredients he would use in our meal. Throughout the experience, he shared the traditions, history, and meaning behind the foods and ingredients, which made the entire experience feel so much more special than simply going out to eat. We then went to his home, where he prepared an incredible meal for us: a delicious appetizer, a main course that we got to choose from several options, dessert, and drinks. Every single thing was fresh, authentic, and absolutely DELICIOUS. But what really made the experience stand out was our Chef Wilfredo himself. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, and generous with his time. We learned so much about Guatemalan food and culture, and it genuinely felt like we were being welcomed into his home rather than just attending a cooking class. If you’re taking the time to visit Guatemala City, make time for this experience. Skip the search for restaurants and be sure to make this one of your meals. This is the kind of experience you’ll remember long after the trip is over. 10/10 would recommend this unique, one-of-a-kind experience and would do it again to try a different main dish if we came back!

    Chef Wilfredo was very...

Chef Wilfredo was very inviting and accommodating. Held very good conversation comparing similarities to cultures and travel. Food tasted so amazing and the quality of the class was very informative. All ingredients were fresh and answered all questions when they were asked. Lovely guy! On my return back to Guatemala I would 100% take his cooking class again!!

Brilliant local fresh food with history and culture. Don’t miss this activity

Delicious fresh food with a knowledgeable, engaging and enthusiastic chef. A wonderful experience to learn more about not just Guatemala food but also culture, history and people and agriculture…All the food was so thoughtfully put together. Involvement before the meeting with a choice of food options. The most generous host. Thank you

    Very cool experience,...

Very cool experience, can’t wait to try the dish at home. We missed the market with the later start 6:00.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your opinion but I don't understand your rating since in the description it is that in the afternoon evening classes it is not included to go to the market since it is closed and I can't do anything about it

Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Guatemala City.

How much does Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City cost?

    +

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Guatemala City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Guatemala City is not rushed.

Is Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Guatemala City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Guatemala City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Guatemala City and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private MAYAN CUISINE Lesson with Chef in Guatemala City start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Guatemala City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Guatemala City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Guatemala City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shuttle in Guatemala, Guatemala City Tour, Private Ground Transfer Airport - Antigua Guatemala. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Guatemala City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Guatemala City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
