Rising dramatically against the desert sky, the enormous seated figures once guarded the entrance to a vast temple complex built by the powerful New Kingdom pharaoh. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the story of Amenhotep III, the original temple, and the fascinating history behind the name “Colossi of Memnon.” Take a moment to stand before these weathered giants and look closely at the surviving details carved into the stone. With the mountains of the West Bank behind you and the Nile Valley stretching into the distance, this short stop offers a striking encounter with the scale, power, and enduring legacy of ancient Thebes.

The Karnak Temple
Continue to the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest and most impressive religious sites ever built. Dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, the great state god of ancient Thebes, Karnak grew over more than 2,000 years as successive pharaohs added temples, pylons, obelisks, statues, and sacred courtyards. Walk through the monumental gateway and enter the Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise above you like a forest of stone, many still carrying traces of ancient reliefs and inscriptions. Your Egyptologist guide will reveal the stories of the kings who shaped Karnak, the rituals once performed here, and the beliefs that made this sacred complex the spiritual heart of ancient Thebes. As you stand among the towering columns and weathered monuments, surrounded by the scale of the temple and the silence of its ancient spaces, you can feel why Karnak remains one of Egypt’s most extraordinary places to experience the power and spirituality of the pharaonic world.

Luxor Temple
Continue to Luxor Temple, where towering columns, colossal statues, and golden sandstone rise directly beside the lively streets of modern Luxor. Built and expanded by pharaohs including Amenhotep III, Tutankhamun, and Ramses II, this magnificent sanctuary was connected to Karnak by the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes and played a central role in the annual Opet Festival. Walk beneath the massive First Pylon and stand before the colossal statues of Ramses II and the surviving obelisk, then move through elegant courtyards, towering columns, and sacred chambers filled with ancient reliefs and inscriptions. Your Egyptologist guide will bring the temple to life, explaining the rituals once performed here and the beliefs surrounding kingship, the gods, and renewal. An Unforgettable Day in Luxor – Amazing from Start to Finish
We booked a day trip from Cairo to Luxor with WOW TOURS EGYPT, and honestly, everything was perfect from beginning to end. It was also my mother’s birthday, which made the day extra special. Sally, our tour operator, was absolutely wonderful. She took care of every single detail and made sure everything went smoothly. What really touched us was that she arranged a complimentary birthday cake from WOW TOURS EGYPT during our lunch in Luxor, at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Nile. It was such a thoughtful surprise and made my mother’s birthday even more memorable. Our tour guide, Sayed, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, but what made him stand out was the way he brought the history to life. He is a magnificent storyteller, has a great sense of humour, and made the entire tour interesting and enjoyable. We learned so much without ever feeling overwhelmed by information. And a special mention to Moustafa, our driver, who was simply perfect. He was friendly, professional, careful, and made the long journey feel comfortable and easy. You can really tell when a company genuinely cares about its guests, and that was our experience with WOW TOURS EGYPT. From the organization to the little birthday surprise, everything was handled with care. Thank you, Sally, Sayed, Moustafa, and the whole WOW TOURS EGYPT team for giving us such a beautiful and memorable day. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Egypt!

Poor guiding and hidden costs - travelers beware
I would like to start this review out by saying I have done tours in over a dozen countries and up until this point I have had great success with Viator. It was just me and my mother and we were lucky to find this available as we booked only three days before the day trip. Unfortunately though, I would not recommend this tour guide or organizing group to anyone. Azib was our tour guide for the day and although kind and eager for the day, he blatantly ignored my mother for the entire first hour of the trip, not even asking her for her name, just trying to speak to me, and consistently walked away from us on his own which I have attached photos of. He said the exact same story in every temple and in every location, and if you are coming from any tour from Cairo or any Egyptian history background you are probably going to already know everything. Finally, the thing that put us off the most, as two women, was that to get us to come over to him he would snap his fingers at us. At the lunch he wanted me to fill out the review form in front of him and off his phone, which was incredibly uncomfortable, and I kindly shared I would complete at the end when the trip concluded as we were just at the halfway point. On the organizing side, it would have been nice to know you are going to be liable for additional costs that you will not know of on the front end of your trip. Be warned. Whether it’s lack of information or you want to call it scamming, that is up to you. Aside from the already steep price for the excursion, we had to pay additional fees toward the flights despite there being plenty of availability online, and not all of the tombs and entry fees are included to the places they will bring you too (including king tut). On the more positive side. The lunch Azib brought us to was fantastic. It was all food grown near the restaurant, it was clean, and the hospitality was great. Additionally, our driver was fantastic and incredibly courteous and kind. Take this at face value, as everyone experiences things differently, but this is our honest review of this booking. Response from the operator: Thank you, Maya, for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are sorry that some aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify a few points for future travelers. The additional flight difference was not a hidden charge**. As the booking was made only one day before departure, the available airfare had increased. We explained the difference to you in advance, and you confirmed that you understood and were happy to proceed before the tickets were finalized. Our tour has a standard itinerary with clearly stated included sites and admissions. As this is a private tour, guests may also request additional places when time permits. Medinet Habu was added during your tour at your request, and its applicable entrance fee related to that additional visit. Likewise, Tutankhamun’s Tomb requires a separate ticket from the standard Valley of the Kings admission, as indicated in the itinerary. These are optional additions, not hidden mandatory charges. We are sorry that aspects of the guiding experience, including the communication style, made you uncomfortable. We take such feedback seriously and are reviewing it with our team. We also appreciate your kind comments about the lunch and our driver. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope these clarifications are helpful to future travelers considering a private Luxor experience with WOW TOURS EGYPT.

Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Giza.
How much does Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight cost?
+
Prices start at $730 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Giza usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Giza is not rushed.
Is Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Giza, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Giza can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Giza and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Luxor Day Trip from Cairo by Flight start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Giza within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Giza?
+
On Outty we rank every Giza experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel, ATV Bike, Shopping & Dinner Cruise, ViP Private Tour Giza Pyramids, camel ride , inside 3rd Pyramid, Giza Pyramids VIP Private Tour ATV Camel Inside Pyramid & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Giza?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Giza?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
