    What you'll see and do

    1. Urquhart Castle

A modest ruin in a position that is anything but — a spur of rock jutting into twenty-three miles of black water with the hills coming down on both sides. You cannot see that with four hundred people on it. You can see it perfectly at nine in the morning, which is the entire reason we leave when we do.

120 minutes here · Admission included

    2. Loch Ness

Views along the west shore of Loch Ness.

      Pass by without stopping

    3. Invermoriston Falls

Thomas Telford threw a bridge over the Moriston in 1813 and it is still standing, just, next to the one that replaced it. The river underneath goes through a slot in the rock and drops hard after rain. Five minutes from the road and most people driving the A82 have no idea it is there.

      30 minutes here

    4. Dundreggan Rewilding Centre

Trees for Life’s centre at Dundreggan, up Glen Moriston on the road we take anyway. Lunch in the café, and trails from the door running twenty minutes or most of an hour, so it flexes with the weather and with how much walking you actually want. Facilities here are the good ones, and the next of them is Fort Augustus. It keeps its own seasonal hours and does close; if it is shut on your date we stop somewhere else nearby, and Dan will tell you that on the morning.

      90 minutes here

    5. The road climbs out of Glen Moriston onto open moor and the whole of Loch Loyne opens out below with the Cluanie hills behind it. When the loch is low you can still see the old road running down into the water, drowned when the loch was dammed. There is a nature reserve walk from near here if you want to stretch your legs properly.

      15 minutes here

    6. Fort Augustus

Five locks lifting the canal up from Loch Ness in a staircase through the middle of the village. If a boat is going through, it is worth the twenty minutes to watch it — the whole thing is still worked by hand. Public toilets here, and the last of them before the east shore.

      60 minutes here

    7. Suidhe Viewpoint

The B862 climbs hard out of Fort Augustus onto open moorland and stops at a viewpoint that looks back down the whole fault line. On a clear day you can trace the Great Glen running away to the south-west like a scar, which is exactly what it is. Almost nobody comes up here.

      15 minutes here

    8. Loch Ness Alpacas

Alpacas on a smallholding above the loch. It is a genuinely good hour if you have children with you, and a slightly absurd one if you do not, which is its own kind of recommendation. Best arranged in advance.

120 minutes here · Admission included

    9. Dores Beach

The north end of Loch Ness, looking back down twenty-three miles of water towards Fort Augustus — where you were three hours ago. It is the only place you can take in the whole thing at once, and it is where we sit for as long as you like before the ten minutes back into Inverness.

Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Inverness.

How much does Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views cost?

    +

Prices start at $817 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Inverness usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Inverness is not rushed.

Is Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (0/5 across 0 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Inverness, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views?

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Inverness can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Inverness and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Loch Ness Tour Urquhart Castle Falls and Scenic Views start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Inverness within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Inverness?

    +

On Outty we rank every Inverness experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Ultimate Isle of Skye Day Tour from Inverness, Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle Day Tour from Inverness, Loch Ness, Outlander & Urquhart Castle from Inverness. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Inverness?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Inverness?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
