What you'll see and do

  1. Tower of Zindan

Tour starts at agreed time from the meeting point or hotel. From Baku to Lankaran is 3 hours driving distance. Our First stop is Circular Castle & Old Prison (Round Tower or Zindan Tower). Zindan Tower was constructed as part of Lankaran fortress and was a crucial element in the city's defense system. Located right past the small bridge leading into the center of the city, this old circular building is hidden by enormous acacias and fig trees -- with only the top tower visible, where branches stick out of broken windows. In pre-Soviet years, up to the early 20th century, Zindan Tower was used as a prison where Joseph Stalin was detained. Though, the building is no longer open to visitors, the guests can see the building from outside at closer range. Guests spend here around 15–20 minutes.

  2. The second destination is Lankaran Khan's House: The History Museum. The distance from Zindan Tower to this point is only 5 minutes by car. The Khan's House in Lankaran is a building erected in 1913 by order of Mir Ahmed Khan, a descendant of the Talysh Khan Mirmustafa Khan, in honor of his wife Tugra Khan. The Lankaran Khan's Palace was built in 1913 by architects invited from Europe by order of Mir Ahmed Khan, a descendant of the Khan. All the construction materials used here were brought by ship from Baku. This magnificent building was the first multi storey structure in Lankaran. The facade of the building is adorned with mythological figures. It was among the first in the region to feature electric lighting and a heating system, marking a symbol of innovation even before the revolution. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the site for about 30 minutes, immersing themselves in its unique historical atmosphere.

  3. Lankaran

The next destination on our journey is the Tea Factory and Plantation, located just 5 minutes by car from Khan Palace. Lankaran has long been renowned for its high-quality, fragrant tea, and tea cultivation began to flourish here in the 1930s, soon becoming a defining symbol of the region. Upon entering the city, visitors are greeted by the impressive giant samovar monument, a tribute to Lankaran’s proud tea-growing heritage. Guests are scheduled to spend roughly 30 minutes at this site, providing an ideal opportunity to observe the tea production process, explore the plantation, and immerse themselves in the serene green landscapes infused with the scent of freshly processed leaves.

  4. The tour proceeds to the bamboo plantation located in Talishli village. The vehicular transit from the Tea Plantation to this site requires approximately 15 minutes. The bamboo plantation represents a unique ecological and botanical site within the Lankaran region, characterized by dense stands of Bambusoideae species. The environment exhibits a microclimate conducive to the growth of these fast-growing perennial grasses, evoking a landscape reminiscent of East Asian bamboo forests. Participants are allotted a 30-minute interval for systematic observation and examination of the structural, ecological and phenological characteristics of the bamboo habitat.

  5. Khanbulanchay Reservoir

The final destination of the tour is Lake Khanbulan, located within Hirkan National Park. The driving distance from the Tea Plantation to this site is 25 minutes. The lake is encircled by forested terrain, within which several small recreational facilities are currently operational. Lake Khanbulan extends 4.7 km in length and 2.2 km in width, maintaining considerable visual and ecological appeal across seasons. Visitors are allotted a 60-minute period for systematic observation and experiential engagement with the lake and its surrounding habitat. The tour concludes at this location and the driving distance from the final destination to the designated drop-off point is approximately 3 hours. Guests are returned to their hotel meeting point upon arrival. The total tour duration is planned for 9 hours; however, the itinerary may extend to 10–11 hours to facilitate an enhanced experiential program, including optional food and tea breaks, ensuring a comprehensive and memorable journey.

Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Baku.

How much does Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $48 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Baku usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Baku is not rushed.

Is Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (0/5 across 0 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Baku, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Baku can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Baku and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Lankaran Highlights Day Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Baku within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Baku?

+

On Outty we rank every Baku experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include BEST Gobustan, Volcanoes & Absheron Fire Tour (Group or Private), Gobustan and Absheron tour, Old and Modern Baku Tour ( Day & Night Time). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Baku?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Baku?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
