Highlight of our trip!
Our Hagoromoya kimono photoshoot was one of our favorite things we did during our two weeks in Japan! We absolutely love our photos, and the entire process was so much fun! Satsuki is a very talented photographer. We had a group of 6 including 2 grandparents and 3 preteen/teen boys. Getting dressed in the many layers of a beautiful kimono is an experience in itself. Everything was very professional and went very smoothly. It was an amazing experience and a highlight of our trip! Thank you so much Satsuki and the entire Hagoromoya team!

10/10!!!
This whole experience was truly amazing. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating with specific requests and with the booking process. The studio was clean and comfortable and the entire team was professional/kind, making us feel at home. The value for the money was extraordinary! I can't say enough wonderful things about this experience and I'm so thankful I chose this company for this photoshoot. Having the pictures and videos that encompass the culture and our time in Kyoto is priceless. Thank you!

An experience of a lifetime!
While we were in Kyoto i could not resist but book a photo shoot with my partner to get photographed in Geisha and Samourai outfits. One of the pictures will be used for our wedding invitation ! What a fabulous experience that i can only recommend. It is not cheap but such good value for money. The service and the team led by Satsuki was exceptional! The Samourai armour and my kimono absolutely exquisite… and the pictures… amazing! And wr had a fabulous time. Satsuki puts you at ease in front of the camera and gives you tips.. don’t wait any further :-)

WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE
Had an amazing experience at Hagoromoya! The staff were incredibly friendly and professional — both the photographer and the person who did my hair, makeup, and dressed me in the kimono were welcoming and helpful throughout the whole process. It was such a great memory to make while in Kyoto. They also offer wonderful extra services, like filming the entire process and taking additional photos, which is honestly worth so much more than what you pay. Another huge plus: since there is an indoor option, you don't have to worry about weather or being jostled by crowds outdoors while taking photos in your kimono — it was super hot the day I went, but the studio made it a comfortable, stress-free experience. I'd recommend this place to everyone — families, couples, and individuals of all ages and genders!

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.
How much does Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN) cost?
+
Prices start at $16500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN) take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.
Is Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 50 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN) suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 3. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN)?
+
Around 18 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Kyoto Photography and Dress up Adventure (ALL PLAN) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kyoto?
+
On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kyoto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kyoto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
