The perfect helicopter tour for the perfect duration and the perfect price.
What outstanding experience my wife and I enjoyed with Kona Coast private helicopter tours this afternoon. Our pilot, Sam, was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. We really enjoyed the time spent with him. We felt very safe and comfortable with him at the controls. What we enjoyed most about our experience was how simple it was to make the reservation, how easy it was to find their office at the airport, and how fun it was to go for a 30 minute helicopter to along the Kona coastline. In addition, this is one of the most affordable helicopter tours we could find. They use a smaller Robinson helicopter that holds the pilot in three people so it’s just you and your significant other. You don’t have to worry about sharing the trip with strangers. In addition, I am 250 pounds and many of the other helicopter tours have a cut off at that weight limit and require you to purchase a second “comfort” seat. This company sets their limited 275 pounds which made it a no-brainer for us. So if you want to go see majestic volcanoes and breathtaking waterfalls at a price that will set you back significantly, this is not the outfit to choose. However, if you just wanna go on an enjoyable helicopter ride and look at the breathtaking coastline of this part of the big end of Hawaii and affordable price than this is the company you want to choose. 30 minutes was just right, the price was just right, the scenery was memorable and breathtaking, and we felt very safe and secure every second we were on board this aircraft.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for your thoughtful review! We're thrilled that you and your wife enjoyed your Kona Coast helicopter tour with Sam. We'll be sure to share your kind words with him. It's wonderful to hear that you felt safe and comfortable throughout the flight and that the booking process, private experience, and convenient airport location made your adventure even more enjoyable. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable private helicopter tour that's accessible, personal, and showcases the stunning beauty of the Kona coastline. We're so glad the scenic flight exceeded your expectations. Thank you for choosing Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours and for recommending us to future visitors. We hope to welcome you both back for another Hawaiʻi helicopter adventure. A hui hou! 🚁🌺

Our Pilot Sam was so...
Our Pilot Sam was so awesome. He was easy to talk to and was calming about the trip. We opted to have no doors, despite my fears, it was the best choice. The views were breathtaking and the cool air felt amazing! We were able to capture the most amazing photos.
Response from the operator: Aloh Lia, Mahalo Nui Loa for this review! We are so happy you loved your private doors off helicopter tour with us!

Wonderful experience! 5/5 stars
I booked the helicopter tour for my parents so that they could enjoy an aerial view of the Kona coast. My parents speak very little English, but the tour team was very friendly, patient, and accommodating towards them. The helicopter pilot, Abby, was absolutely amazing! She explained all the safety instructions quite clearly and made sure that my parents felt very safe and comfortable during the flight. Her flight was very smooth, and my parents had a wonderful time! They were all smiles when they returned! I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore the Kona coast from up high. 5/5 stars!!

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats cost?
+
Prices start at $241 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats take?
+
Plan for about 0.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 151 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats?
+
Around 53 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 0.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Kona Coast Helicopter Tour: All Window Seats start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
