What you'll see and do

  1. The Marble Mountains

Marble Mountains (Vietnamese: Ngũ Hành Sơn; lit. "five elements mountains") is a cluster of five marble and limestone hills located in Ngũ Hành Sơn District, south of Da Nang city in Vietnam. The five mountains are named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire) and Tho (earth). All of the mountains have cave entrances and numerous tunnels, and it is possible to climb to the summit of Mount Thuy. Several Buddhist sanctuaries can also be found within the mountains, making this a tourist destination. The area is known for stone sculpture making and stone-cutting crafts. Direct rock extraction from the mountains was banned recently. Materials are now being transported from quarries in Quảng Nam Province. Marble Mountains was officially given the National Special Relic certificate by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 20, 2019.[1]

  2. Son Tra Peninsula

Sơn Trà Mountain (Vietnamese: Núi Sơn Trà), also known as Monkey Mountain, is a mountain and peninsula range located on Sơn Trà Peninsula, in Sơn Trà district, Đà Nẵng, Vietnam, overlooking the Bay of Da Nang and the East Sea. Đà Nẵng Port's Tiên Sa Terminal is located at the base of the mountain's western face, as is nearby Tiên Sa Beach. The site is notable as a natural reserve and tourism location to the nearby city. The site is a habitat for many endangered species notably the Red-shanked douc langur, with over 60% of the species located on the mountain range.[3] In 1977 the site was designated a nationally protected forest following the takeover of the site by the newly unified government.[3] Currently, the site is undergoing significant and in many cases illegal development, with plots of land illegally being transferred to developers by local governments for constructing hotels and venues. Monkey Mountain and Marble Mountain

Highly recommend the private tour. My wife and I took the tour of monkey mountain and marble mountain in Aug 26 and found the guide to be very friendly and have great knowledge. We even got to see a couple of the rare Monkeys in Monkey Mountain.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking your time for the review. We are happy that you had great time with our team. Enjoy your holiday! Best regards, TTP HENRY TRAVEL HOI AN Hotline/Whatsapp: +84.936.037.289

Started as 3 star, became 5 star, ended as a 1

Little bit of a bait and switch scenario. They DO pick you up at your hotel, but in a fairly standard Toyota suv. You’ll ride in the SUV for about an hour until you get to a parking lot in Son Tra. From there you’ll transfer into the back seat of a jeep. Friendly guide will ride up front and half explain things and will act interested in order to get information from you on your trip. Pretty much a normal S.E. Asia game of “how knowable is this person to scams, and what other side deals can I get out of them?” Don’t particularly like it, but I understand the cost of doing business in this part of the world, I respect the hustle. Just know that you’ll be tried. Monkey mountain isn’t really a big sight to see unless you’re interested in obscure VN War Military History, and are trying to see it for yourself. Which if you are, is FANTASTIC! Lady Buddha is honestly a good sight, and you’ll probably spend 30-45 minutes or so there. Guides do a great job here. If you take the trip in the afternoon, this is where they get you. You’ll arrive at Marble Mountain just as they close. “Oh it’s traffic, so sorry!” It wasn’t, but that’s fine I’ll play their game. At this stage, I am completely ok with the trip being over, quite happy with everything. Now the turn. “Oh mountain is closed, but we visit this place where the family has been carving marble forever.” It’s a store, an astronomically overpriced marble store. The owner walks you around trying to get you to buy something as the workers pretend to be closing up. They’ll emphasize they accept credit cards and can ship. Then they’ll get indignant and insulting when you say you have no interest in buying something from a shop you never intended to enter. The remainder of the ride will be the guide hassling you to use them for other tours, experiences, and “good deals” on transportation. You end the trip by paying them to leave you alone. Started as a 3 star trip, elevated to 5, and ended as a run of the mill 1 star scam. Truly disappointed

Response from the operator: Thanks for your review. Sorry for the unexpected experience, just skip disliked part and move on. Marble moutains was still open for visiting by walking steps after 5pm but you did not. Enjoy your holiday! Best regards, TTP HENRY TRAVEL HOI AN TEAM

Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Da Nang.

How much does Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains cost?

+

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Da Nang usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Da Nang is not rushed.

Is Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Da Nang, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Da Nang can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Da Nang and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Jeep tour Monkey Mountains -Son Tra and Marble mountains start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Da Nang within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Da Nang?

+

On Outty we rank every Da Nang experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Golden Bridge and Ba Na Hills Small Group Tour, Marble Mountains - Am Phu Cave - Monkey Mountain Sunset tour, Lady Buddha, Marble Mountains, Coconut Jungle & Hoian City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Da Nang?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Da Nang?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
