Great day trip to Alexandria

We had a great day visiting Alexandria. Our guide, Marwa, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of her city which made the trip even better. She told us in great detail about the history of the city and was able to answer all our questions. She also took us for a great lunch on the sea front. Our driver, Mostafa, was great too - picked us up on time, very friendly and drove safely. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone looking to do a day trip to Alexandria.

Highly recommend Marwa for a tour of Alexandria

We recently did a tour of Alexandria with Marwa, and she was excellent. As a former archaeologist, she really knows her stuff and provides a lot of historical context that you wouldn't get otherwise. It was clear she’s genuinely passionate about the history of the city, and her background made the sites much more interesting. She was very knowledgeable and shared plenty of information throughout the day without it feeling overwhelming. If you’re looking for a guide in Alexandria who actually knows the archaeology behind the ruins, Marwa is a great choice.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! We’re truly delighted to hear that you had such a great experience in Alexandria with Marwa. Her background in archaeology and genuine passion for Egypt’s history really do make a difference, and it’s wonderful to know that this came through during your tour. Providing meaningful insights while keeping the experience engaging and enjoyable is exactly what we strive for, so your feedback means a lot to us. We hope to welcome you again in Egypt for another memorable journey! Warm regards, Waleed Forever Egypt tours

A wonderful day in Alexandria

We had a wonderful day in Alexandria with Marwa as our guide. She guided us beautifully through all the major attractions, including the Catacombs and the Roman Colosseum, spending a generous and unhurried amount of time at each site. Her knowledge is truly exceptional — she has a PhD in archaeology, and it really showed in the depth and clarity of her explanations. We were like curious students, constantly asking questions, and she patiently answered every single one with enthusiasm and insight. She also shared personal stories and local perspectives, which made the experience feel very warm and human. It never felt like a formal tour — more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend. Marwa also gave us excellent recommendations and took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch. To top it all off, we ended the day at a dessert shop where we enjoyed kunafa and harissa. It was a truly lovely day, and we will cherish our time in Alexandria for a very long time. We highly recommend Marwa to anyone visiting the city.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review of your day in Alexandria. We are truly delighted to hear that you had such a memorable experience with Marwa. Her academic background in archaeology, combined with her passion for sharing Egypt’s history, allows her to offer guests a deep, engaging, and enriching perspective on Alexandria’s remarkable heritage. We are especially pleased to know that her explanations, patience, and enthusiasm made you feel like curious students rather than participants in a formal tour. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed not only the major historical sites, such as the Catacombs and the Roman Theater, but also the personal touches — local stories, warm conversations, and carefully chosen dining experiences. Ending the day with traditional desserts like kunafa and harissa is indeed a perfect Alexandrian finale. Your kind recommendation means a great deal to us and to Marwa. We sincerely hope to welcome you again in Egypt, whether in Alexandria or another destination, for more unforgettable experiences. Warm regards, Waleed Tour Manager

Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairo.

How much does Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo cost?

+

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairo is not rushed.

Is Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairo and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Historical Guided Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cairo?

+

On Outty we rank every Cairo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include All-in-One Giza Tour, inside Pyramid, sphinx, Camel ride & lunch, VIP Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx Tour –Inside the Pyramids&More, Best of Cairo Private Giza Pyramids, Sphinx and Grand Museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairo?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairo?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
