Fabulous tasting experience - interesting and fun

We booked Liam for a private whisky tasting for a party of 12 friends. Liam was incredibly knowledgeable, brought 4 very different and interesting whiskys, explained the process and the significant of each one. Additionally, the process of booking and understanding our needs, was very straightforward. Highly recommended !

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the lovely review. It was a real pleasure hosting you all, and I’m delighted you enjoyed both the whiskies and the experience. You were such a wonderful group to spend the evening with, and I’m very grateful to have been a small part of the celebrations. Thank you again for choosing tuigsear, and I hope our paths cross again sometime.

    One of the reasons we...

One of the reasons we chose this experience was because the trip included many whiskey distilleries while touring a large area of the highlands. Loved the personal communication with Liam before we arrived so we could tailor the trip to our family's needs. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history, geography and anything else you wanted to know! The only thing visitors should be aware of is the cost of the tastings. The trip description lists the whiskey distilleries included but that does not include the price for the actual whiskey tastings not does it necessarily include a tour of the distillery. Would do it again!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! I’m delighted you and your family had such a fantastic time exploring the Highlands. I truly appreciate your note about tasting fees and have updated my listings for full transparency. It was a real pleasure hosting you, and I’d love to welcome you back anytime!

    Amazing Day In Scotland!

We had an awesome day in Scotland with Liam Urquhart on 07/09/2025. Liam was super friendly and knew a lot about everything. I highly recommend booking a tour with him @ www.tuigsear.com Here's what we did: • Met Liam outside the port at 9:00 AM (easy to find when getting off the cruise, plus he sent a step-by-step guide beforehand). • 🏰 Urquhart Castle – Explored the stunning ruins overlooking Loch Ness (~50 mins). • Stopped at a farm on the way to Tomatin Distillery to see a Highland Cow (they're so cute! And they look like they need a haircut!). • 🥃 Tomatin Distillery – Enjoyed a whisky tasting experience (~30–40 mins). • 🏰 Cawdor Castle – Discovered this historic castle and beautiful gardens (~50 mins). • Had lunch at Cawdor Castle. • Returned to Invergordon on time to board our ship. It was a fantastic, well-paced experience in Scotland! Thank you, Liam, for such a wonderful experience! So many Beautiful views and pictures! Till next time! Rosa Perez

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Rosa! I'm truly grateful for your kind words and so glad you all had such a great time exploring the Highlands. It was a pleasure having you on tour, and I wish you all the very best in your travels - hopefully our paths cross again someday!

Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Inverness.

How much does Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Inverness usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Inverness is not rushed.

Is Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Inverness, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Inverness can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Inverness and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Highland Whisky Tour: Distilleries & Tastings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Inverness within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Inverness?

    +

On Outty we rank every Inverness experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Ultimate Isle of Skye Day Tour from Inverness, Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle Day Tour from Inverness, Loch Ness, Outlander & Urquhart Castle from Inverness. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Inverness?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Inverness?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
