Incredible tour
An experienced guide makes all the difference. Thomas provided great insights on geology, biology, history, and politics. Car was spotless, comfortable and stocked with local treats. Tour vehicle parking at crowded attractions was appreciated. Great time management, never rushed and we covered all the planned stops. Very flexible with evolving cruise ship schedule.

Great experience - highly recommended private tour
The Volcano Exploration and Reykjanes Penisula tour with Thomas was terrific. His knowledge about the country and environment were top notch as was his timing and pacing of the tour. There was a good mix of walking/light hiking with seeing a number of different sites. Walking on the lava field was the highlight of our trip! After doing a larger Golden Circle group tour the day before, we truly appreciated the more personal nature of this tour. And of course, being driven around in a spacious Mercedes electric vehicle - powered by 100% renewably generated electricity - was a pleasure.

Up close and dramatic!
Unless you have kindly relatives in Iceland that would drive you around the countryside at your request… this the next best option. Flexible tour stops, informative commentary and a much more impressive experience than being stuffed into a big bus. If you leave Iceland without it you will be missing a true gem!

Whatever your timing is, EV Travel can curate a fantastic tour!
On our last day in Iceland, we managed to book a tour with Thomas W. to pass the time between disembarking our cruise ship and getting to the airport. Thomas offered us a number of options and we settled on exploring the area in and around Keflavik--starting with the erupting volcano (!!!!!) (from a safe distance, mind you) , and then around the coastline, to the lighthouse, a very special bird sculpture, and Bridge between Tectonic Plates. This tour was one that Thomas curated for us so that the timing would work out with our need to see some sights, get some lunch, and get to the airport in time for a late afternoon flight. Having spent a day with him in the week prior, when he picked us up from the marina, it was like seeing an old friend! He managed to squeeze into his vehicle the bazillion bags of luggage we had with us, which in and of itself was not an easy task! The only disappointing part of the day was at a restaurant that Thomas thought would be able to accommodate our specific dietary needs. Sadly, they disappointed him, too. And hopefully, he won't have to suffer with their food anymore either, (but that is for another review in another arena!) He did have plenty of fruit for us to eat, though, so we managed to have enough to get us to the airport. And Thomas handled the disappointment regarding the staff and food at the restaurant with professionalism and grace. All in all, time with EV Travel will always delight and educate! And the memories made will resonate for a very long time.

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle cost?
+
Prices start at $865 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Half Day Iceland Tour with Guide and Vehicle start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
