Don’t waste your money or time.
This tour was an absolute waste of time and money. The tour guide, Pamela Elizabeth, was on her phone texting most of the time, took over an hour before our first sample of food, and didn’t understand one of our guest’s allergies that we clearly stated (and then had to repeat multiple times after she insisted that the food didn’t have “too much” of the allergen in it). She had to ask multiple vendors what the food was before then offering it to us, and she seemed to be stalling at most of the locations (pointing out items like broccoli and mushrooms in the Chinese market). The “pisco sour class” was in the back of a tourist trap liquor store, where they made a single pisco sour for our group of four to share, and then pushed their products on us. The tour took 3.5 hours, mostly walking back and forth through crowds and trying to keep up with Pamela (who was texting the pictures she had taken of us to someone who kept responding with gifs). A total scam and waste of time.

A little context: in Peru, guides use their phone to take payments through our local apps (Yape and Plin) and to take the group photos we share afterward — not for personal texting. our tour features traditional peruvian street food dishes isn't a dedicated vegan or gluten free experience. Two of the group were vegetarian and others couldn't eat flour/gluten, so Pamela checked ingredients with each vendor and adapted dishes (like serving the potato separately) specifically to keep everyone safe. Because not everyone ate meat, the anticuchos were shared in the portions the group asked for, and the pisco sour amount was adjusted because one guest doesn't drink alcohol. We'll own one slip: we ran out of time to grab water bottles at the end due to a long queue, and we're sorry.

Great tour with John
John was a great guide. We ate all sorts of foods and experienced the market that is definitely not designed for tourists. We tried: anticuchos, ceviche, many fruits, chichamorada, some snacks, and more.

A tour in Lima with John is a “must do”
A truly memorable food tour in Lima historical center . John took me to the most local places , made me meet some great people , who work their produce wholeheartedly . We had a very nice walk around the lovely streets of colonial Lima and the Mercado Central. Everything was so delicious ! The Churros , the Papas con Huevos , the ceviche , the Ponche de Maca , all the various piscos , an incredible diversity of local fruits , etc … John is also extremely knowledgeable about the history of each place so I learned a lot during that tour !!! Don’t hesitate to book John if you want to have a great time in Lima . You will feel like being with a friend .
