    Great tour

This tour was very interesting. The area is of Zaandam is just beautiful and everything you expect. Just a couple of points to note. You are picked up from your hotel by a driver in a van who is not your tour guide. The driver takes you to a meeting place where you meet up with the guide. This was a little off putting when you didnt know about it. Secondly its a very busy area for tourists. The clog making factory was packed even though we went early. So be aware its a very busy area. The guide we had was a young lady (whose name i cant remember) who was very knowledgeable and informative. Its mainly a walking tour around Zaandam and the windmills. Then you catch a small boat to your lunch desitnation. Have lunch and then the boat takes you to another part of Zaandam where you walk around some more and then meet up with the van driver who takes you back to you hotel. Really do recommend this tour if you want to see classic Amsterdam and some windmills.

private tour - Zaanse Schans and Zaandam

4 of us who took this private tour could not have been more pleased. Six-seven hour private tour with automobile pick-up and drop-off at our Amsterdam hotel. We first had a great walking tour of the Zaanse Schans Dutch historic area; while it was filled with tourists (late August), it was enjoyable nonetheless. Then we had a private and interesting boat tour (about 30 minutes)j; very lovely sights. Stopped in Zaandam - interesting city. Saw a museum which had Monet reproductions of the many paintings he made of the area, a tour of the Peter the Great home, and then a lovely lunch (included in price) in Zaandam. Price very reasonable. Knowledgeable and friendly English-fluent guides. Strongly recommend.

    What an interesting place

Our guide and coach took us to the windmills, cheese factory, harbours and clog factory with very little fuss. In most places we walked which was very refreshing and particularly where we went along the back streets to many of the features in our tour. A great day with lots of sights and good informantion. Loved it

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
