What you'll see and do

  1. Bergen

Our tour starts in the city of Bergen - the Gateway to the Fjords. The city was founded in 1070 and contains many historical and cultural landmarks. We will pass some of them on our way from the city and also on our return to Bergen.

    Pass by without stopping

  2. We move on to Dale, where the famous sweater factory is located – “Dale of Norway”. We can visit the factory outlet and maybe pick up some woolen souvenirs there (good deals and discount here all year round).

    20 minutes here

  3. Vangsvatnet

We pass by a beautiful lake called Vangsvatnet, on which the town of Voss is located. We travel by a light traffic rural road to Bordalsgjelet gorge.

    Pass by without stopping

  4. Bordalsgjelet Gorge

We arrive to the Bordalgjelet gorge, where a short walk awaits. The walking path inside the deep and dramatic Bordal gorge is safe and secure. During winter months the path can be closed, when there could be snow and ice which make walking difficult. Sheer rock walls on each side and a raging river at the bottom. Here you get a good view of the fantastic giant caves that ice and the river have shaped over the millennia.

    30 minutes here

  5. Tvindefossen

We make a stop at Tvindefossen waterfall, located 12 km (7.5 miles) to the north of Voss town center. We can come close this cascading 110 meters (360 ft) tall waterfall.

    30 minutes here

  6. Vossevangen

After leaving Tvindefossen waterfall we return to Voss. The main historical attractions are Vangskyrkja – a church from 1277, and the St.Olaf's cross from 1023. We will make a stop here to take Voss Gondol cable car to the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level).

    15 minutes here

  7. We take the cable car up the top of Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m above sea level). The tickets are included in the price. The ride take only a couple of minutes. The view is spectacular! At the top of the mountain there is a restaurant, where we can have lunch (lunchis not included). The restaurant serves homemade meals, based on local ingredients from several farms in and around Voss. The menu is based on the simple and rustic, combined with great flavours. Due to the restaurant's high focus on local ingredients, the menu changes every day! Our tour can be extended – for extra payment for additional time: During the period without snow we could go for a short hike in the mountains, starting and finishing the hike at the top of the mountain. During the winter period with snow your guide can help you with renting skis and other equipment, and you can try out the slopes.

    90 minutes here

  8. Bergen

We return from Voss to Bergen, where our tour ends. Suggested scheduled time for return is 4:00pm.

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bergen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bergen and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Bergen?

+

On Outty we rank every Bergen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Walking Tour in Bergen of the Past and Present, Guided Tour To Nærøyfjorden, Flåm & Stegastein - incl. 2h cruise, Discover Bergen on Foot and Boat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bergen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bergen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
