What you get
About this experience
Leave the hotel to Paestum, the capital of the buffalo mozzarella cheese. Visit a buffalo mozzarella factory where you will be invited to see the complete process to make the mozzarella. You will have the chance to taste the real mozzarella. After the visit, continue to visit the archaeological site with Private guide: Paestum. Its Doric temples, surpassed even by those of Athens in noble simplicity and good preservation, produces an incomparable effect of majesty and grandeur. The ancient site is set in a grassy field surrounded by gardens and hills. The site is small, but it is very charming. Here you will find the tomb paintings, one of which, the so-called "Tomb of the Diver", is a graceful and expressive naturalistic piece of Greek wall painting in Italy.

Best Trip Ever!
Gianluca was absolutely amazing helping us sent up transfers and tours for our family trip. Francesco arrived early and was waiting for us in Rome to take us to the Amalfi coast. Gianluca had a fantastic restaurant for us to stop at on the way. Joe took care of us for travel to The path of the gods, Amalfi coast town tours and Pompei. He was great stopping for great photo opportunities and telling us the history of the coast. Best driver in all the Amalfi Coast! Angelo was the boat captain to Capri. This was a magical day. He became apart of the family. The entire team has become of new family in Italy! I can’t wait to go back and see my new friends! This was the best trip ever and it was because of Gianluca, Francesco, Joe, and Angelo!

Excellent tour with Mario
Our guide Mario was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgable and his passion and excitement about the site was contagious. He was very friendly, relatable, and had a great sense of humor. I had a great time asking questions and discussing the ancient Greeks and Romans. I really recommend this tour!

One of our favorite days during our two week tour of Italy!
This tour was amazing!! After Aldo picked us up at our flat, we started with the Buffalo Farm tour. Then, we traveled a short distance to Paestum. We chose the private guide option and Maria was worth every penny and more!! A private guide absolutely makes the tour - otherwise, you're simply looking at ruins with no context. Maria made the entire site come to life through her trip through history. Unlike Pompeii, in Paestum you are able to see both Greek and Roman ruins all in one place. After the Paestum tour, we traveled back to the Buffalo Farm for a fabulous lunch. From the aperitivo to the pasta, everything was insanely delicious - as was the wine. We highly recommend the cheese sampler plate. Each of us had a different favroite, but all agreed that every single one was sublime! Warning - you'll want to take more home with you. We couldn't recommend this tour more! We hope you enjoy this tour as well as we enjoyed it!

A mixture of Greek and Roman ruins experience and Bufalo cheese tour too
If you've been to Athens, this is a great treat. You'll see 3 greek temples unbelievably intact, alters, and much more. It was such a treat to see both Roman and Greek roads and to learn the history of Paestum and the surrounding areas. Our guide, Francesca, was very knowledgeable. The Bufalo Factory tour was pretty amazing too - and of course the cheese was creamy and tasty. Our base was near Amalfi. Our driver Aldo picked us up and kept us entertained throughout the day. Everyone enjoyed the day. If you are looking to see ancient history beyond Pompei, I recommend this day trip.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amalfi.
How much does Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $450 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amalfi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amalfi is not rushed.
Is Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amalfi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amalfi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amalfi and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private guided tour of Paestum and Buffalo Mozzarella farm lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amalfi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amalfi?
+
On Outty we rank every Amalfi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hands-On Cooking Class & Farmhouse Tour on the Amalfi Coast, Amalfi Coast Boat Rental: Explore, Swim, and Relax at Your Pace, Amalfi: Kayak-Snorkeling to Pandora Cave Hidden Beach & Aperitif. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amalfi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amalfi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
