    The Citadel was a...

The Citadel was a memorable stop. The remaining visits were short and with the guide seemingly disinterested as he was for the duration of the trip. The driver, Osama was quite good. Overall, I would not recommend this trip since the total drive time is about six hours with just two to three hours time in Alexandria. For a memorable and worthwhile visit, I would recommend a nighover in Alexandria. The site advertises the guide as an Egyptologist. I am not so sure that was the case with our guide and if so, perhaps he was tired or disinterested. The restaurant recommended (Kadoura) also took a long time with the lunch being mediocre at best.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Citadel of Qaitbay and that Osama provided a good driving experience. At the same time, we sincerely regret that the guiding experience did not meet your expectations. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide. Our goal is always to deliver engaging, informative tours led by passionate and attentive guides, and your comments have been shared with our team for review and improvement. Regarding the itinerary, we understand your point about travel time between Cairo and Alexandria. Day trips can indeed feel time-limited, and we appreciate your suggestion about an overnight stay for a more relaxed experience. We also regret that the lunch at Kadoura did not meet expectations, and we will review this with our partners to ensure a better experience for future guests. Thank you again for your honest feedback—it helps us improve and maintain the quality we strive for.

    Great Day in Cairo

Delightful day. Enjoyed the Pyramids and the museum. Wish we could have spent more time at the museum, but our guide wisely got us through it to see all of the important artifacts before we had to leave. I would recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! 🌟 We’re delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful day exploring Cairo, the Pyramids, and the museum. The Egyptian Museum is truly filled with incredible history, and we completely understand wishing for even more time there! We’re happy your guide was able to help you make the most of your visit by ensuring you experienced the most important and fascinating artifacts within the available time. Your recommendation means a lot to us,

    Wasn’t the best.

It was an okay experience. Unfortunately the internet was down in the entire Egypt so buying tickets to get to the Catacombs and Pompfrey was difficult. The driver was very good but it was so hot that AC wasn’t working. The guide Ahmad tried to do his best. On the whole it was an exhausting experience

Response from the operator: We’re sorry to hear that some aspects of your experience were affected by circumstances beyond control, particularly the internet outage across Egypt, which unfortunately impacted access to sites like the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa and Pompey's Pillar. We also regret that the heat and air conditioning issue made the day more exhausting than it should have been. Your comfort is very important to us, and we will review this with our team. At the same time, we’re glad to hear that Ahmad did his best and that the driver provided a good service throughout the trip. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve and ensure a better experience for our future guests. Best regards,

    Thumbs down

Firstly I had to contact to request pick-up time to wait in the lobby. When Mohamid Wagih arrived we received a text to come out to him instead of him coming in to meet us, like all previous guides. Disappointing with Mohamid, trip to Alexandria he did not discuss history of Alexandria, we had to ask questions what was on the way. The driver was more informed than the guide. Small bottle of Water was supplied once before we requested more. The guide wanted to take selfies with our phones/camera. The guide slept all the way back to Cairo, he did not know history of any of the places visited unless he read them on google before we arrived at each point. Mohamid did not show any care towards us. Lunch was at a seafood restaurant which was okay until paying the bill that was in Arabic which we didnt know was for us only or included the guide and driver. The guides English was very hard to understand. The tour could have been more interesting if the guide was well informed of the history of Alexandria and its surrounds.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet expectations. What you described regarding the guiding service, communication, and overall engagement is not the standard we aim to provide. We are particularly concerned about your comments regarding the level of historical explanation, professionalism, and attentiveness during the tour. This has been shared directly with our management team for immediate review, as all our guides are expected to deliver an informative, engaging, and respectful experience throughout the entire journey. We also regret the confusion regarding the lunch arrangements and billing, as this should always be clearly explained in advance to avoid any misunderstanding. Regarding the visit to Alexandria from Cairo, we always aim to make the travel time engaging and informative, and we are sorry this was not your experience. Please rest assured that this case is being taken seriously, and we are reviewing it internally to ensure better consistency, communication, and service quality moving forward. We truly appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps us improve.

    Alexandria Private tour

Guide was excellent. She was highly knowledgeable and very pleasant. However, only because of the long drive time to Alexandria from Cairo, I would not necessarily do this tour if you are at all short on vacation time. Our driver showed up early, communicated well through WhatsApp, and spoke excellent English. Overall an enjoyable day.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🌟 We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed your Alexandria tour and had such a positive experience with both your guide and driver. It’s wonderful to know your guide’s knowledge and friendly personality helped make the day enjoyable and memorable. We’re also glad your driver’s communication, punctuality, and professionalism made the long journey comfortable and stress-free. Alexandria is truly a beautiful and historic city, though we completely understand that the travel time from Cairo can feel long for guests with tighter schedules. We genuinely appreciate your honest feedback, as it helps future travelers plan the experience that best fits their vacation.

Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Giza.

How much does Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Giza usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo take?

    +

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Giza is not rushed.

Is Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 185 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Giza, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo?

    +

Around 65 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Giza can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Giza and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Guided Full-Day Tour to Alexandria from Cairo start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Giza within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Giza?

    +

On Outty we rank every Giza experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel, ATV Bike, Shopping & Dinner Cruise, Giza Pyramids VIP Private Tour ATV Camel Inside Pyramid & Lunch, Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel Ride, Lunch & Inside pyramids. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Giza?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Giza?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
