Pyramids, Sphinx and the GEM in one day with ERT
If you’re visiting Cairo for the first time, I honestly don’t think you’ll get the most out of it without a guide and driver. The traffic is unlike anything we’ve experienced, and distances are much farther than they look on Google Maps. Having ERT handle everything made the trip completely stress-free, and I’m so glad they were recommended to us. We were picked up right on time and started our first day at the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and with a camel ride. The camels ERT arranged looked healthy and well cared for, which was important to us. If you’re going to ride an animal, choose a camel—they belong in this environment. The horse-drawn carriages were sad to see, as the horses didn’t appear suited to the desert conditions. Our next stop was the Grand Egyptian Museum, and this is where our guide, Mario, really shined. The museum is enormous and could easily feel overwhelming, but he knew exactly how to navigate it and brought the exhibits to life with his knowledge and enthusiasm. We learned so much while still having fun. We also needed to stop at a pharmacy for ibuprofen, and Mario took us there, helped us communicate with the pharmacist, and made the whole process effortless. As a bonus, over-the-counter medications are incredibly affordable in Egypt—we paid about US$2 for a box of thirty 600 mg ibuprofen tablets. A special mention also goes to our driver, Mohammad. He expertly navigated Cairo’s chaotic traffic and was always waiting for us at the closest exit, which saved us a lot of walking in the 100°F (38°C) heat. Every time we got back in the vehicle, he greeted us with ice-cold bottled water and a cooler filled with drinks, juices, and fresh fruit that his wife had packed for us. Those thoughtful touches made a huge difference throughout the day. Cairo can feel overwhelming at first, but with ERT, Mario, and Mohammad, everything was smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable. We were able to focus on the history, culture, and incredible sights instead of worrying about logistics. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone visiting Cairo.
Response from the operator: Dear Ruth, There simply aren’t enough words to express how grateful we are for your beautiful review. Reading your kind message truly brought smiles to all of us. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience—it means far more to us than you can imagine. It makes us incredibly happy to know that you enjoyed every moment of your time in Cairo and that you felt comfortable, well cared for, and able to simply enjoy the journey from beginning to end. For us, that is the greatest compliment we could ever receive. What makes your review even more special is knowing that this wasn’t your first visit to Egypt. The fact that you chose to come back—and to visit Luxor again—means so much to us. It reminds us why we love what we do. We promise that every time you return to Egypt, we will do everything we can to make your experience even more memorable than the last, so that each visit brings new memories, new discoveries, and even more reasons to fall in love with Egypt, its history, and, most importantly, its wonderful people. Your heartfelt words about Mario and Mohammad truly touched us. We will be delighted to share your review with them, as they put their hearts into every tour, and your appreciation is the greatest reward they could receive. We are also so happy that you noticed the little details we try to add to every experience. We believe that unforgettable memories are created not only by the incredible monuments but also by genuine care, kindness, and the small thoughtful gestures along the way. Thank you once again, Ruth, for your trust, your kindness, and your wonderful recommendation. It was a true pleasure to be part of your journey, and we sincerely hope to welcome you back to Egypt again soon. And when you do return, please remember that you won’t just be coming back as a guest—you’ll always be welcomed back as a friend. With our heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes, Yasser

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Giza.
How much does Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist cost?
+
Prices start at $12 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Giza usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Giza is not rushed.
Is Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Giza, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Giza can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Giza and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Grand Egyptian Museum Giza Pyramids Tour & Egyptologist start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Giza within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Giza?
+
On Outty we rank every Giza experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel, ATV Bike, Shopping & Dinner Cruise, Giza Pyramids VIP Private Tour ATV Camel Inside Pyramid & Lunch, Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel Ride, Lunch & Inside pyramids. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Giza?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Giza?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
