Some disappointments with Iceland overall, but Iceland Highlights contributions were excellent.
We went for 3 nights to Iceland from UK with Icelandair. Good decisions: 1. We opted for the individual 4x4 day tour with Iceland Highlights, which was good; the driver Petur was terrific young guy, we learnt a lot about Iceland and could move on whenever we wished. If we had done a coach tour it would have been tedious, waiting in bad weather for people to get on and off the bus at 6 stops, and we'd have learnt far less. It was worth the extra cost. 2. We opted for an AirBnB apartment (2 bedrooms for 3 of us) and got a great location and super place cheaper than the hotel we had originally booked. 3, The Sky Lagoon experience was pretty good, but 2 hours was plenty. Bad bits: Disappointing restaurants Groceries and drinks ridiculously expensive Reyjkavik touristy and a bit lacking in quality 2+ hours continuous queueing at the airport going home, no seats at the gate.
Response from the operator: Dear traveller, thank you for this honest and balanced account of your three nights in Iceland. We are delighted the private 4x4 Golden Circle day was one of your trip's good decisions — Petur will be thrilled to hear he made such an impression, and we will make sure your kind words reach him. Being free to linger where you wished and move on when you were ready is exactly why we run these tours privately, so it means a great deal to read that it was worth the extra cost. Your candid notes on prices and the airport queues going home are useful context for future visitors planning their own trip — Iceland does ask for a little patience in places. We would love to show you more of the country beyond the Golden Circle whenever you return.

Tour company that goes above and beyond
This company is AMAZING! Since we were a party of 6 traveling over New Year's, we decided to contract with a company for our transfers/sightseeing rather than renting a van and doing it ourselves. Iceland Highlights were so patient with our ever changing itinerary and sent us the perfect vehicles and drivers for each day of our journey. While we had a few things that were on our lists to see, they surprised us with several we had no idea were even an option (extra shout out to Siggi for taking us to the Volcano Man keyboard spot!). We definitely plan to return to Iceland and will absolutely be contacting Iceland Highlights as soon as we set dates to return.
Response from the operator: Dear Chefette, Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! It truly brings a smile to our faces knowing that your New Year's trip to Iceland was a memorable one and that we could play a part in making it special for your group. We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the personalized touch we brought to your journey, from accommodating your changing itinerary to surprising you with hidden gems (Siggi will be especially delighted to hear about the shout-out for the Volcano Man keyboard stop!). It was an absolute pleasure being part of your Icelandic adventure, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back. Whenever you set your dates, we’ll be ready to help craft another unforgettable experience for you!

Our guide Styrmir was absolutely incredible. Gave us such a wonderful tour with a ton of knowledge about the history of Iceland. Beautiful car, beautiful scenery and a wonderful host. We felt like we were traveling with a (very smart) friend. Incredible all around!
Response from the operator: Hello Mitra, Thank you very much for using our service and for your time. It's much appreciated. Our star Styrmir deserves a shout-out!

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $1650 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Golden Circle Tour Iceland | Day Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
