Dreadful experience - to be avoided
Absolutely terrible service. Cannot recommend and will never use again. We booked a tour, but were unable to go because our cruise ship arrival was delayed. I cancelled the trip 4 days before. Ts&Cs state a full refund would be given if cancelled over 24 hours before. Refund was issued minus 10% (£40). Evidence sent to agency to prove the refund should have been 100% (their original booking document!). Sent several further emails to follow up as received no reply. All emails were ignored.
Response from the operator: Dear Catherine, Thank you for taking the time to write, and we're sorry — you were right, and we've put it right. When your cruise ship's arrival was delayed and you cancelled four days ahead, you were refunded under our standard policy, which retains 10% to cover card-processing costs. However, the tour you booked is one we offer through a partner operator, and the booking document you received stated a 100% refund — different terms from our own. You were absolutely right to point that out: with that voucher, and a cancellation entirely outside your control, you were owed the full amount. We've now refunded the remaining 10% in full, and we're correcting the conflicting terms so this can't happen again. We also sincerely apologise for the silence on your follow-up emails during a very busy spell — that honestly isn't our standard, and we're sorry it left you chasing. If anything is still outstanding, please email us directly at info@iceland-highlights.com and we'll confirm right away. With sincere apologies, Tung Iceland Highlights

Seamless and Unforgettable Private Tours with Iceland Highlights
We booked private tours with Iceland Highlights during our Iceland cruise and had an absolutely amazing experience. From start to finish, everything was so well organized. We were a group of 8, ranging in age from 13 to 70, and Iceland Highlights made sure everyone was comfortable and engaged throughout the tours. Each of our guides met us right at the port or airport, making every transition smooth and stress-free. The team was in constant communication with us, sharing details about who our driver/guide would be at each stop and exactly where to find them. This gave us so much confidence and allowed us to just enjoy the trip. Day 1 – Reykjavík & Golden Circle: Asgeir picked us up from KEF airport and took us on a Golden Circle tour right away before dropping us off at the cruise port. It was the perfect start to our adventure. Akureyri – North Iceland Tour: Ari met us directly at the port and guided us on a full-day tour covering North Iceland’s most spectacular natural attractions. A highlight was spotting a puffin—a magical surprise! Return to Reykjavík: For our last day, Tomas was truly amazing. He not only took us on a tour around the city but also made a stop at a local supermarket (something we really wanted to experience) where we picked up souvenirs. He then brought us to the Lava Show and later to a wonderful restaurant near the airport before dropping us off for our flight home. Every tour was fantastic, and each guide added something special that made our trip so memorable. Thank you to Iceland Highlights for organizing everything so seamlessly—I didn’t have to contact multiple companies or stress about logistics. They handled it all beautifully, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a worry-free, personalized, and unforgettable experience in Iceland.
Response from the operator: Dear Anu, Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review — it truly made our day! We’re delighted to hear that your family enjoyed every part of your Iceland adventure with us, from the Golden Circle right after landing to your tours in North Iceland and Reykjavík. We’re especially glad that each of our guides — Ásgeir, Ari, and Tomas — were able to bring their own personal touch to your journey and make it memorable for everyone in your group, across all ages. Knowing that you felt confident and cared for at every step, with smooth transitions from port to port, is exactly the experience we strive to create. It was our absolute pleasure to take care of the logistics so you could focus on simply enjoying Iceland. Thank you for trusting us with your trip and for recommending us so warmly. We hope to welcome you back again one day for more unforgettable memories!

Absolutely amazing time in Akureyri, Isafjordur, and Reykjavik for taking tours through Iceland Highlights
We were a cruise group of 18 people and booked a couple of tours in Akureyri, Isafjordur, and Reykjavik through Iceland Highlights. I booked a couple of months ahead and had various queries about the tours. Tung from Iceland Highlights was an amazing person who answered all my queries and was very prompt in responding. Each guide was very knowledgeable and made the tours very interesting for us. I highly recommend this company as they are very professional, timely, accommodating, and also modified the tours according to our needs. We had a fabulous time in Iceland and saved money as compared to booking shore excursions through the cruise. On our last day, they even arranged on our request a pick up from the port, including a Reykjavik city tour, and then dropped us off at the KEF airport as we had an evening flight. Thank you to each member of the Iceland highlights team for making Iceland a memorable experience for us!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear you and your group had such a memorable time with us across Akureyri, Ísafjörður, and Reykjavík. It was our pleasure to tailor the tours to your needs and make your Iceland visit special. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again!

Why this scores 46
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland cost?
+
Prices start at $1700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 46 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Golden Circle Tour from Cruise Ports in Iceland start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
