Skálholt church historical sites, the is next stop place which is peaceful and informative. Next, you will visit the Geysir area in Haukadal where you can see the geysers, hot springs, steam vents and creepy blue algae. Our last stop takes us to Thingvellir, where the Icelandic parliament was established first in the world in 1000. Hello -...

Hello - I was honestly pretty disappointed in this private tour given the steep price ($1,200). Our guide Sharma was very nice. However, he did not really speak English. Unfortunately, this led to us only really feeling like we received a partial experience. No itinerary was provided, and the language barrier made it difficult to understand what we were seeing/passing. For example, we ate at the Geyser rest stop, only to later find out that there was a beautiful option in a greenhouse that was not presented but which would have made our experience much much better. We had no idea it existed until we made a random stop there to see the tomatoes growing. Sharma again was really nice and appeared knowledgeable given that he grew up in Iceland, but he was unable to effectively communicate anything about what we were seeing or anything along the route. Even if the price had been halved ($600) I think I would have been disappointed because I didn’t get more out of it than I would have had we rented a car ourself or taken a budget big bus tour. Overall, felt like we just paid for a shuttle bus which is not the point of paying ultra-premium for a private tour.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 8.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
