What you'll see and do
Teotihuacan Mexico Tour
Teotihuacan is the biggest archaeological site in Mexico. Exploring this place can take a long time and can be exhausting if you don't know where to start. This tour is designed to make sure you visit the three main temples without having to walk too much. You will be at what used to be the most powerfulcity in the Americas almost 2000 years ago! You will learn about the Quetzalcoatl temple (a must see and usually skipped highlight) at the citadel, the Pyramids of the Sun and the moon are part of the itinerary as well. Your professional guide will also take you to the Quetzalpapalotl palace. Here, you'll have the opportunity to admire some of the best well preserved murals. Later on, you'll have the possibility to decide if you want to have a lunch break before going back to CDMX or closer to the Shrine of Guadalupe. You will always have the freedom to decide where to go, however, your guide can also suggest some of the best restaurants in Teotihuacan or back in CDMX.

Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe
After having a delicious meal, your guide will drive you to the second most visited Catholic Church in the world; The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the north of CDMX. Here, you will admire some beautiful baroque churches and the "supernatural" painting of Guadalupe at the modern Basilica. Your guide will explain why this is a very important and meaningful place not just for catholics but also for Mexicans in general. It is shocking to see how thousands of people still believe and embrace the story of the appearance of Guadalupe in 1531. You'll find out why it became such a popular tale and learn about its impact today in the Mexican (and global society). Lastly, you will be taken back to your hotel safely. Remember that you will always go at your own pace and will have the possibility to make as many suggestions on the go!

Go with David if you can!
We had such a positive experience. David was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Mexico’s history and culture and he draws you into his love of these topics . The pace of our day was perfect and we saw and learned so much.

Book This Tour!
David and Francisco went above and beyond to make this tour super special for me and my nephews. Mexico City is currently experiencing a lot on construction and road closures to get ready for the World Cup. The day of our excursion, the road to our hotel was completely closed. Instead of simply cancelling/changing the day of the excursion as others would have done, they figured out other solutions on how to pick us up and give us a great experience. David and Francisco were super knowledgeable and passionate as they were showing us around. My nephews kept mentioning how nice and awesome they were after the excursion. I also love the flexibility of this tour since it’s a private one so we can tweak it and customize it to our preference. I highly recommend using them for your next tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you and your nephews had such a great experience. For us, the biggest advantage of offering private tours is exactly that: having the flexibility to adapt to any unexpected situation. I will happily pass your kind words along to David and Francisco; they will be delighted to know their passion and knowledge made your day so special. We hope to welcome you all back on your next visit to Mexico City!

The only way to do it!
We had an excellent tour with Eddie! He was so knowledgeable and personable. Even our 9 yr old was impressed! He made seeing this massive area very easy and took us to a really special hidden spot to see murals where no one else was. Definitely skip La Gruta and have him take you to his favorite taco spot. The best tacos we had all week! Loved that we didn’t have to go to any of the tourist trap spots and could just do what we wanted to see.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this great review! We are so glad to hear that your whole family, especially your 9-year-old, had a wonderful time with Eddie. One of the best parts of our private tours is avoiding the tourist traps and showing you the real local spots, like that hidden mural area and Eddie’s favorite taco place! I will surely pass your compliments along to him. Muchas gracias!

Wonderful tour guide!!! 5 plus stars!
David was an excellent tour guide. From the instructions of where to meet to the drive to the pyramids, he was patient and kind! He gave us just the right amount of information and also let us customize the tour. We went at a great pace! Wonderful English speaking information as well! Would highly recommend this company and tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We are very happy to hear that you had such a great experience with David. I will share your wonderful words with David. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to see you again!

Amazing Tour and Guide!!
This tour was our favorite day in Mexico City. Eddy was our tour guide and I cannot say enough nice things about him!! On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give Eddy a 20!! Pick up was prompt, the vehicle was super comfortable and Eddy is a great driver. Most importantly, Eddy is an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. He has little tricks for maximizing the experience and he took some great pictures of me and my husband. We went to an excellent local place for lunch and tried some new dishes. By the end of the day Eddy was more than just a guide, he's a friend! Thanks for everything Eddy, I will definitely be booking another tour with you when we return to Mexico City.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this amazing review! We are absolutely glad to hear that this was your favorite day in Mexico City. We truly feel lucky to have Eddie on our team. He is an incredibly knowledgeable guide and a very skilled driver, but what we love most is his ability to turn a tour into a day out with friends! We will gladly pass your 20/10 rating, your compliments on his photography skills, and your kind words along to him. Gracias!

Why this scores 86
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace cost?
+
Prices start at $95 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 86 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 170 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace?
+
Around 59 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
