Fantastic French Quarter and Treme Tour

Do this tour! We had a great afternoon with Ashley walking around the French Quarter and a little bit of Treme. She was full of knowledge and moved seamlessly from history to architecture to cultural commentary. She kept it engaging for our two teenagers, taking us through 250+ years of history during our 2.5 hour tour. It was a great introduction to New Orleans for our children and one of the highlights of our trip.

    Great tour of French Quarter

This is a great tour to understand the geography and history of the French Quarter. The guide covered the settlement of the city in the 1700's by the French, Spanish rule and the Louisiana purchase. He was well informed on the ironwork and architecture of the Quarter. We walked to the river, through the Quarter and then to Treme. It was an easy walk and all our questions were answered. Our guide suggested eating at Napoleon House for lunch and we were very pleased. I highly recommend using Soul of Nola. The owner is very organized and helpful. Her guides are energetic, friendly and knowledgeable.

SOUL OF NEW ORLEANS: A NOLA EXPERIENCE BEYOND MEASURE!

My college kids and I began planning our after-Christmas visit to NOLA summer 2023, with the goal of highlighting music, history, and food, the signature features of the city. I soon discovered Soul of New Orleans and Cassandra Snyder. What initially attracted me to Soul of New Orleans was Cassandra's mission of tailoring our New Orleans experiences to our particular interests. Cassandra and I worked together to develop an array of activities. She arranged 2 morning walking tours, guided by Derek, who is soon completing his Ph.D. in history. Derek was really fun (my 3 college kids loved him), entertaining with both history and local "lore," and a continuing resource for unique experiences in the city. For example, Derek recommended we visit the New Orleans Museum of Art and its incredible, outdoor sculpture exhibit. We also enjoyed a photography exhibit at the museum. Derek knew the photographer and provided a personal perspective on her work. Cassandra, on the other hand, directed us to Snug Harbor for New Year's Eve, where we enjoyed one of the most amazing musical experiences of the trip. In fact, we returned to the venue a number of times for various shows: the musicians were varied and exceptional, think Jason Marsalis, Oscar Rossignoli, Mahmoud Chouki, and Victor Goines. One of my sons is a pianist/organist, and the crowning moment of his trip was the lesson Cassandra arranged for him with a jazz pianist. If you have a particular interest, Cassandra will help you realize a personal experience in your area of inquiry. She worked over a month to arrange the music lesson for my son, maintaining regular communication as she located the instructor. Cassandra's fees are reasonable and the quality of her assistance was superlative. Even after we finalized our plans with Soul of New Orleans, Cassandra continued emailing us new ideas, advice on navigating the city, and upcoming events we might enjoy. Derek also offered to assist us in any way, even after our tours with him were completed. To conclude, our trip was amazing, and we attribute much of its success to Cassandra Snyder and Soul of New Orleans. As a result of her guidance and resourcefulness, we had a unique and dynamic experience in New Orleans. Every traveler needs at Cassandra Snyder! We fell in love with NOLA, and Soul of New Orleans/Cassandra Snyder opened its doors to us with such hospitality and service!

    Fabulous Tour!

This tour exceeded expectations! Our guide Derek shared his extensive knowledge of New Orleans history, architecture and culture in an engaging and entertaining way. He tailored his presentation to our individual interests - no small feat with a group of eight spanning ages infant to senior. Highly recommend this wonderful company - they are organized and communication is superior. Thank you!

Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New Orleans.

How much does Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $320 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New Orleans usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New Orleans is not rushed.

Is Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New Orleans, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New Orleans can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New Orleans and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private French Quarter and Treme Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New Orleans within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in New Orleans?

    +

New Orleans runs on licensed guides, and it shows: the city requires certification for tour guides, so the floor is higher here than most US cities. Ghost and cemetery walks, French Quarter food crawls, plantation history day trips and swamp boat runs make up the bulk. We rank on whether the operator handles cemetery access properly, since St. Louis No. 1 needs an authorised guide. On Outty we rank every New Orleans experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include New Orleans Swamp and Bayou Boat Tour with Transportation, New Orleans Swamp Tour Boat Adventure, New Orleans Self-Transport Swamp and Bayou Boat Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New Orleans?

    +

February to May and October to November. August is heat and storm season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New Orleans?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
