    Off to a bad start

Our tour was supposed to begin at 8:30am. By 9:20 we headed back inside and continued to try and get in touch with the tour operator. Once they responded, it was clear they double booked and had forgotten about us (even though we confirmed over text). We were unable to change the date of the tour due to flights, so the tour company assured us they could still do it today. The tour states 1 driver and 1 guide will accompany you. We only had a driver, and although he did his best, he was not a guide. We had to rely on googling and a guide book to learn about the stops on the tour once we were dropped off. Disappointing and expensive. I imagine the tour is better with their provided guide - the stops themselves are interesting and flexible to your preferences which is much better than a shared tour.

Response from the operator: Hi Victoria. I know this response in the system is coming late. We understand your frustration. Unfortunately we had a glitch in our schedule, consequently we started late as you have stated. We were in touch with you until we finally started the service. Since this was our error we were agree to reimburse 50% of total payment and it was done. As we discuss after your service and reimbursement, you were agree to modify your feedback; though looks like was not possible due restrictions in the system. (Not your fault, its the rule, then it's ok) Frankly speaking, this is a shame we have failed, but we tried to "compensate" with the reimbursement. For your knowledge only, after this event, we have modified our process to avoid any further failure and get always better comments. Blessings and thanks.

    Flexible and Informed

Our guide, Alex, was very flexible and responsive to our preferences. We wanted the grand tour of Mitla and got it. Alex was well informed about history and culture, not just a prepared script. We chose to go to Hierve el Agua which was a nice drive but would give high recommendation. Alex selected a lovely family textile shop in Teotitlan del Valle. And we even did a quick tour learning how to make me cal. A very full, excellent day.
