Fantastic!
Wonderful tour! Barbara was a great tour guide! Good bikes and equipment. Beautiful area to bike!

So Fun!
Barb was an excellent, friendly guide. She had pictures to accompany her history lessons of the sites we were visiting. We really appreciated the water and snack that went along with our ride! We had never ridden an e-bike but she made learning all the different styles easy! The e-bikes were so fun and we had great weather. We’ll definitely be doing this again!

A Disappointing Beach Bike Tour Experience
This review is based on a bike tour experience I had a few years (before 2023 but Tripadvisor doesnt offer that drop-down option) ago in LA, and I’m writing it now because it left such a negative impression that it still affects my memory of that trip with my boyfriend. Before booking, I did my research carefully. I specifically looked for tours that catered to beginners, as I hadn’t ridden a bike in years and didn’t feel comfortable riding quickly through the city. I even emailed the company to confirm that they had experience working with people like me. They assured me that the tour would be a leisurely ride along the beach, not fast-paced or aggressive, and that I could expect a patient guide who would provide a relaxed experience with some interesting history along the way. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. Our tour guide, whose name I can’t remember, had an Eastern European accent. What I do remember clearly is how impatient and dismissive she was. From the start, she barked orders at me to hurry up and seemed visibly frustrated with my slower pace. I felt as though I was a burden to her, even though I was the paying customer. Her attitude made me feel small and unwelcome, which was incredibly disappointing, especially since I had hoped for an enjoyable, relaxed experience. After the tour, I found out that she had also yelled at my boyfriend. He noticed her behavior too, but didn’t tell me at the time for the same reason I didn’t mention my own frustration—we didn’t want to spoil the trip for each other. Even now, years later, when I think back on that day, it still makes me angry. I deeply regret choosing this tour group. In hindsight, we would have been better off just renting bikes and exploring the beach on our own. I believe the company should be more transparent and advertise this tour as being suitable only for experienced riders who are comfortable with a faster pace. If you’re looking for a relaxed, beginner-friendly bike tour, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

You must do this tour!!!
We loved this tour! as lifelong California residents who have never been to Santa Monica Venice Beach we had a blast exploring and learning about the history of this place. It was so much fun and we highly recommend this tour. The bikes are in excellent condition and Bard is a fun knowledgeable guide!

Why this scores 80
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santa Monica.
How much does Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches cost?
+
Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santa Monica usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santa Monica is not rushed.
Is Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 65 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santa Monica, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches?
+
Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santa Monica can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santa Monica and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private EBike Tour of Santa Monica and Venice Beaches start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santa Monica within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Santa Monica?
+
Santa Monica is where most LA coast tours start: beach bike and e-bike rides to Venice, surf lessons, food walks on Third Street and open-top runs up Pacific Coast Highway. On Outty we rank every Santa Monica experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Los Angeles Guided City Tour with 4 Stops and Free Time, Half Day Best of Los Angeles City Tour from Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills & Celebrity Homes Tour by Open Air Bus. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Santa Monica?
+
March to May and September to November, dodging the June marine layer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Santa Monica?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
