What you'll see and do
Corinth Canal
Depart from and drive along the coast line until we reach the Corinth Canal where we will make a brief stop. The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. ls considered one of the great engineering accomplishments of Greece. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base. The canal was constructed from 1880 to 1893, however, it is something that shipowners and captains had dreamed about for some 2000 years before it became a reality.

Archaeological Site of Mystra
Mystras is UNESCOs World Heritage site! Mystras, the ‘wonder of the Morea’, lies in the southeast of the Peloponnese. The town developed down the hillside from the fortress built in 1249 by the prince of Achaia, William II of Villehardouin, at the top of a 620 m high hill overlooking Sparta. Like a replica in miniature of the majestic form of Mt. Taygetos, Mystras rises above the verdant valley of Eurotas and is the best-preserved example of medieval walled town in the Greek region, is today a standing ghost city that fascinates the modern traveler with its castle, churches and the palatial complex of the ruling Byzantine dynasty, bearing witness to its bygone greatness

A Great Stop on the Ohio Erie Towpath.
A Ohio Erie Towpath Ride North This past month (October 2024), I met a long-time friend North from St. Clairsville Ohio at the Trailhead near Ernie's' Bike Shop north of Massillon Ohio. We had planned to travel to Peninsula Ohio on our E-Bikes North and stop at several of the historical Towpath Locks on the Towpath Trail. However once we arrived at Canal Fulton Ohio on the trail, we decided to stop and tour this little 'quaint town' and its noticeable historical sites. This little town is worth the time to stop and tour. If you are visiting there, take time to stop at the Sisters Century House Restaurant. Great menu and great desserts. The small shops and many sidewalks provide a pleasing way to spend an afternoon in Canal Fulton. We visited a nice bike shop, had a great lunch and visited the historical towboat/flatboat display on the Towpath route. I plan on visiting this area again soon in warmer weather. JL ps - ha, we didn't make it to Peninsula this time ... we had too much to see and do at Canal Fulton :)

Trip to Sparta
Yannis was a great guide. Picked us up promptly at our hotel. Was professional, kind and informative. You could tell he enjoyed his job. When we got to the Corinth Canel, he showed us a place which told about how the Corinth Canal came about. On to the town of Sparta. We happened to be there when the Spartathon was happening and 2 people crossed the finish line. What a treat to see them both crowned with olive branch wreaths. On to Mystras to see the city palace and churches. He showed us a statue of the Byzantine Emperor. So much history. On the way back, we stopped for lunch. The Mousaka was delicious! A great day overall!

Excellent driver, excellent destination = excellent day
23.04.24: This was realistically the only way to get to Mistras from Athens without hiring a car and braving the Athens traffic. Our driver, Anistes, was excellent - good company, safe and sensible driving and we felt in very good hands all day. We had a quick stop to see the Corinth Canal over 3 hours at Mistras followed by a really nice reasonable lunch at family restaurant. Mistras was excellent and lived up to our expectations - all in all an excellent day.

Incomplete visit to Sparta and Mystras
I had high expectations for the visit to Sparta but the general opinion is that the most interesting thing is the visit to Mystras, and we had a rainy day so we couldn't enjoy the entire tour. The driver was very communicative and informative and cared about us. Find out well what can be done before making the decision

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras cost?
+
Prices start at $64 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Day Trip to Corinth Canal, Sparta and Mystras start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
