    Longqing Gorge

We were picked up from our hotel by Jimmy our guide who took us to Longqing Gorge. During our time we cruised up the river and back. Climbed to a few temples which had awesome views with the help of the cable car. We finished with an excellent local unch then had a peaceful trip back to the hotel. It was a great day as there were not many people around and we had most of it to ourselves. Our guide Jimmy was great and he looked after us well. It was a great trip to finish on after a hectic few day in Bejing.

Chinese Painting in Real Life with Scenic Mountains and an Iconic River.

I’ve always wanted to see the scenic mountains with an iconic river in between like some of the Chinese paintings I’ve seen and this tour did not disappoint. Not only did I get to experience it with a boat ride, I was able to see the temple there as well. Tom, our tour guide, is very knowledgeable and personable. He guided us through the tour without any hiccups. I’m really glad I chose this tour as part of my Beijing experience.

    A nice city escape!

I live in Beijing. I booked this private tour to escape the city for a few hours and it was just what I expected. Qing and her driver picked me up from the city centre at 8:30am and we arrived to Longqing Gorge about 2 hours later. I was surprised to see that it was not as busy as I thought it would be for a Saturday. Most visitors were Beijingers looking to enjoy a break from the city as well. First we went up the Dragon Escalator to reach the top of the dam. From there we hopped on a boat to enjoy the cruise along the gorge. The scenery was very beautiful and Qing explained the different rock formations that could be seen. This was my favorite part of the trip and I wished the boat ride was longer. When we got off the boat there were several activities available: bungee jumping, canoeing, zip lining. We hiked up the hill to visit the quiet and beautiful Diamond Temple, the smell of incense burning was lovely. The second boat trip took us back to the cable car, which took us to the other side of the gorge where we hiked many steps to reach the highest point for views. Unfortunately, the sky was a little hazy, but on a clear day the views from above would have been spectacular. Qing was lovely! She was happy to take breaks when I got tired and we had interesting conversations about Chinese culture. On our way back, we had lunch at a small, family-run restaurant near the Dragon Escalator. Qing ordered some tasty dishes for us and we enjoyed a quiet lunch. Again, the place was not busy at all. The owner of the restaurant was very kind to drive us back down to the entrance of the gorge (where our driver was waiting for us), which I appreciated very much because it would have otherwise been a 15-minute walk in the heat on a full stomach. Qing is a very cheerful, friendly and knowledgeable guide who made this visit very nice. I enjoyed my day trip out of Beijing and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something new to see on the city outskirts.

Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing cost?

    +

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Tour to Longqing Gorge with Boat Ride and Cable Car from Beijing start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
