A deep dive into ancient Egypt, without the crowds
I wanted see the Abydos temple, the supreme religious center of ancient Egypt, so I booked a private tour from Luxor. Mohamed organized it for me superbly and he kept checking whether everything is going well. I had a great guide Ayman, and driver Ahmed. The transfers went smoothly, so I could focus on the beauty of the temples in Dendara and Abydos. Besides their significance, a good reason to visit is a lack of crowds (unlike say in Karnak).

When I think Egypt, I think Dendara and Abydos.
Dendara and Abydos were the kind of temples I envisioned when I thought of Egypt before I went. These temples are incredible in beauty and size. I will never forget how I felt inside of these structures. The guide was phenomenal too. I would’ve missed so much without his guidance.

+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Luxor?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
