Worst Tour Ever: Lied To and Rushed by Luxor Egypt Tours – Avoid at All Costs!
The tour explicitly included an English-speaking guide as a selected option (not an extra charge), promising a professional, educational experience. What we got was an absolute disaster – incomprehensible guidance, skipped elements, aggressive upselling, and blatant lies from the female guide (who introduced herself as Yasmen) to try to cut the tour short. This company is dishonest and unprofessional; do not book with them. The tour description clearly stated: - 1 hour at the Pyramids of Giza complex, including the three primary pyramids, six smaller pyramids, Sphinx, and Valley Temple (admission included). - 1 hour at the Egyptian Museum with over 250,000 artifacts, including Tutankhamun's treasures (admission included). - Exploration of Khan El Khalili bazaar, one of the oldest marketplaces in the Middle East. In reality: - The guide Yasmen's English was extremely poor – broken sentences, heavy accent, and mumbled words that made any historical explanations at the Pyramids and Museum completely incomprehensible. We selected the English-speaking guide option specifically to understand the rich history, but most of the tour was unintelligible gibberish. The educational aspect we paid for was entirely lost, turning what should have been a highlight into pure frustration. - Felt rushed all throughout. - Key parts of the Giza complex were skipped without explanation: the six smaller pyramids (a core advertised feature), close-up access to them, and entry into the Valley Temple, despite these being explicitly included in the itinerary. Whilst there she also unprofessionally pushed overpriced "extras" not in the itinerary (obviously for commissions) for e.g "papyrus workshop". - In the museum, there were many moments were she'd just leave us to wonder around in an exhibit without providing any historical context or explanations to what we were looking at, which was pretty lazy, what's the point of paying for a tour guide when they're just going to get you to look around on your own, they're useless at that point, we also had to push to see the whole museum, as we noticed many parts were skipped out. - At Khan El Khalili, Yasmen provided zero cultural or historical context – she simply dropped us there and walked around without explaining anything at all. Instead, when there she kept trying to push us to one specific shop but we kept refusing, because that was an obvious attempt to get commissions from our purchases.. to add insult to injury when we did go to stalls and vendors we actually have a genuine interest in, she just stood by snarkily laughing while we tried to haggle with vendors, refusing to assist with negotiating fair local prices as any competent guide should. The most shocking part: In the afternoon, around 3 PM, Yasmen and the driver attempted to end the tour several hours early by falsely claiming a "4 PM gate closure/curfew" in Cairo, insisting we had to leave the city immediately or risk being stuck overnight. This was a blatant lie designed to rush us out of Khan El Khalili, pressure us into a quick visit to only their preferred shop, and get us back to Hurghada prematurely. When we pushed back and quickly checked online (confirming no such 4 PM restriction or exit mandate exists for tourists or tour vehicles), they backpedaled, calling it a "miscommunication" because the driver was "afraid the road might close." I have full WhatsApp screenshots of the entire exchange with the operator (+20 11 42752126), where they repeatedly insist on the gate closure, then abruptly change their story when confronted. This wasn't an honest mistake – it was a deliberate scam to either cut the day short out of laziness or funnel us into commission-driven spots. It ruined the end of the tour, left us feeling manipulated, unsafe (in the moment this unfolded), and from that point onwards highly distrustful of the tour and all those involved. The whole day felt like a rushed shuttle service prioritizing subtle (and not-so-subtle) upselling over the professional, educational tour advertised.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations, although we would like to clarify important points for transparency, as we take all reviews seriously. 1. All services were delivered exactly as advertised. Your private car, guide, lunch, and all entrance tickets were provided. You also completed the full itinerary, including Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, and Khan El Khalili, despite heavy traffic and road restrictions that day. 2. About the guide: The guide assigned to your tour is a licensed professional with consistently positive reviews. We have never received complaints about her English before, and during the tour no concerns were reported directly to our team. Using Google Translate is sometimes necessary for accuracy on complex information, and it is not unusual in multilingual tours. 3. No forced shopping or commission stops. Our company does not operate on commission-based shopping. Our guides only give general advice if a place is known to be overpriced—visiting or not visiting any shop is always your choice. 4. Regarding camel/horse rides and workshops: These activities are optional and offered because some guests enjoy them. Declining them is perfectly fine and does not affect the tour. 5. About the 4 PM road checkpoint: This is a government regulation on certain days, not controlled by tour companies. Despite this, we still ensured you visited every location without skipping any part of your tour. 6. Interaction with staff: Our team responded to your messages at 3 AM, arranged all requests including complimentary snacks (not included in the booking), and did their best to assist throughout the day. At no point was any disrespect or unprofessional behavior intended. 7. We do not “rush” guests, nor do we “scam” visitors. We have served thousands of travelers with excellent feedback and we stand firmly behind our work. We understand that sometimes misunderstandings happen, but we assure you that every member of our team acted professionally and honestly. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your future travels

THE WORSE TOUR EVER!
This was one of the worse tours i’ve ever done, i’d give it 0 stars if i could, it was that terrible. First of all, the tour operator was incredibly unprofessional on the phone at 3 AM, just saying “he’d call the driver” etc, the driver came, we were picked up, it was a long ride with snacks included, which was nice. Then time for the tour to the pyramids, we were unable to see everything, the tour was rushed and our tour guide was supposed to be an “English speaking” tour guide, her English was very very weak, we were unable to understand her and we don’t think she had a credible license to be a tour guide. There were so many instances, she kept pushing us to buy things, such as a “papyrus workshop”, which alarm bells rang, she also kept encouraging us to go on the camel rides at the pyramid and a horse ride, these were expensive and a real tour guide would’ve lowered the prices, this was when we could tell she was on commission and not a professional or licensed guide at all. She rushed our tour, we didn’t have time to look around properly and she kept saying that “oh but lunch is at this time etc” when we read reviews saying the tour guides didn’t rush their time. Then we went to the lunch place, which had an overpriced drink menu, since we didn’t buy any of the drinks, this was when things got dangerous and they lied about the “check point closing at 4pm” when we were in Cairo past 4, then she claimed we can stay in Cairo overnight, we knew this was a scam and my partner confronted the tour guide, who was rude, scummy and unprofessional, he said to him “you didn’t tell us or make it clear” and the tour operator, was rude he said “you should’ve asked” etc, and we also had the last part of our tour khan market, which they were trying to get us to miss, then the tour guide Yasmin came out with some nonsense saying “oh we can go to this one shop at the market and it’ll have everything” and that’s when we noticed this tour guide’s only job was to make more money out of us, aka commission. Because eventually when all the lies were uncovered they knew they couldn’t scam us or make a fool out of us, we are seasoned travelers and have done tours in over 16 countries, have seen a lot of countries and understand how things operate. We eventually bought some things in the market (not at the shop she was pushing us too) and the tour guide was also laughing as my partner tried to haggle, which was unprofessional and she was refusing to help put the prices down, infact she told us not to “haggle at 100 or 150 since it’s not the real prices”, this is not how a licensed, professional tour guide operates. This whole tour from the beginning to the end was a scam, we believe the driver, the tour operator and the tour guide were all involved in a scheme to milk more money out of us than we already paid. This was incredibly dishonest and predatory, luckily viator gave us compensation. Also I wanted to add at the old Egyptian museum, the tour guide Yasmin’s English was rusty, she even used google translate to speak to us, she didn’t know much English to hold a conversation, she was also pretending that she didn’t want us to not do the tour etc, and that it’s the tour companies fault and she sent unprofessional messages to my phone which I will upload here. If you’re someone who wants a relaxed, honest tour which isn’t focused on milking you for cash, I wouldn’t recommend this tour company, always check which company you’re choosing and if there’s red flags please don’t be afraid to speak up Thankyou.

I cannot recommend the one-day private trip to Cairo from Hurghada enough!
Our guide was a true expert and provided us with an unforgettable experience. Exploring the Pyramids of Giza was a surreal experience, and learning about their construction and history was truly eye-opening. The Sphinx was equally impressive, and the Egyptian Museum was a treasure trove of artifacts that illustrated Egypt's fascinating past. This trip exceeded all of my expectations and I would do it again in a heartbeat

Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hurghada.
How much does Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada cost?
+
Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hurghada usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hurghada is not rushed.
Is Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hurghada, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hurghada can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hurghada and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Day Tour to Cairo from Hurghada start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hurghada within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hurghada?
+
On Outty we rank every Hurghada experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hurghada Diving Adventure one Day with two Dives Boat Trip, Hurghada to Cairo: Pyramids & Museum for First-Time Visitors, Scuba Diving Full Day Boat Trip W/Lunch & Transfer from Hurghada. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hurghada?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hurghada?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
