Our journey started out...
Our journey started out on time but became a bit delayed due to holiday travelers headed east. Traffic was epic! However, our driver Andrea was cold, cool, and amazing. He pushed through so that we could enjoy our full tour in Budapest. Gabor our local guide was very knowledgeable and also adjusted his day to accommodate us. A plus was that we got to see Budapest at night. The city is beautifully lit up for the holidays and we had an amazing time. Well worth the trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that despite the holiday traffic, Andrea and Gabor made sure your day in Budapest was still a great experience. It’s great that Andrea’s professionalism and determination, along with Gabor’s flexibility and knowledge, allowed you to enjoy the city fully — especially the beautiful evening lights during the holiday season. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again on another tour soon!

Great Experience
Our driver picked up my family of four on time at our hotel. He was a quiet young fellow, and was nice and professional. He drove us for nearly 3 hrs to Budapest, where we met our guide, Gabor. We stayed in the van for part of the tour, and walked around for part of the tour, with Gabor there to show us the sites. He did a fine job, and was friendly. After our tour, we had time to eat a good meal at a local restaurant, see some sites on our on, and do some shopping. Then we met our driver, who took us on the return journey to our hotel in Vienna. Overall, a great experience. My only regret is not having more time (like days) to spend in Budapest, but that's not how we scheduled this vacation. On these types of tours, you are of course limited by time, and only get an overview of the city. If we had days, we could take this tour and then decide from there what we wanted to spend more time doing. That is no criticism of this tour, but just something to think about if you really want to go deeper in your experience of a destination. This tour was exactly what we expected, based on the description, and both our driver and our guide were good. We really liked being picked up and dropped off at our hotel, instead of having to navigate to some location. Would recommend.

Budapest was Wonderful.
Our tour with Peter was great!! Peter had a lot of local knowledge. Sofia our tour guide was also wonderful!! She knew so much about Budapest and the region. She taught us some words and phrases. Great time.

Rude and Un professional
Last minute booking for the next morning and called to confirm. The driver (nice guy) picked us up on time at 8am. Drove us to Budapest in silence. I had to ask about the tour of which he knew nothing about. Didn’t know if there was a guide waiting for us. We said typically that’s how it works but we just said we’d go to Christmas markets. 3hr later I get a call asking to meet us for the tour. If which I said no thanks we’re making best of our time. Then get email from manager saying we refused and don’t try to ask for refund as I won’t get it. It was very rude set of emails back and forth. I never asked for refund and we had driver take us to another town on the way back since we had time remaining. Over all 2 stars because driver wasn’t given information on tour but was still nice. Otherwise I would have given zero stars based on the email thread with rude tour company blaming me for refusing the guide and lack of any responsibility for driver not knowing this was tour or having a guide call us almost 3 hours into the arrival to offer a tour. Very un professioanl and rude.
Response from the operator: We are very sorry for your experience, but it is not true. The only true thing was that its the high season and you booked the tour very late in the evening and even at this time we confirmed the tour. We gave you the driver that usually does tours to other towns and forgot to contact the local guide in Budapest and in the meantime you left for Christmas markets. The guide in Budapest called you at 1.00pm when he usually has the tour with clients/ sometimes clients prefer to have lunch first, have free time etc/ you told him that you were at the Christmas markets and are not interested in the tour, that you are completely fine with just your own city tour. We then sent you an email trying to confirm whether its true and the guide can have free time even was ready to give you the tour. You than probably changed your mind and started complaining about not receiving the tour and trying to get a refund which we refused. We also offered you a tour later in the afternoon and even a late departure from Budapest, but you refused all this, instead you asked our driver to take you for Christmas markets to Slovak capital- Bratislava, so we hope that at least this extra tour you liked and we gave it to you for free.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.
How much does Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna cost?
+
Prices start at $508 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.
Is Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private day tour to Budapest from Vienna start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Vienna?
+
On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vienna?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vienna?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
