What you'll see and do

  1. Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park

Admire the spectacular views as you ride the cable car to its final stop, atop Tianmen (Heaven's Door) Mountain. At 4.6 miles (7.5 kilometers) long, it's the longest cable car ride in Asia, and takes approximately 30 minutes to ascend from the city. Your first stop is Tianmen Temple, an expansive religious complex first built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), although the buildings you see now are recent. Next, visit the attractions that made Tianmen Mountain famous. The vertiginous Skyways are narrow walkways of transparent glass that cling to the edge of the mountain. Don your shoe covers to protect the glass and enjoy spectacular views down the sheer mountainside and across the surreal karst landscape around Zhangjiajie:  your guide will steer you to the best spots for photos. Descend to the feature that gave the mountain its name, Tianmen Dong (Heaven's Door Cave), a vast natural archway that pierces the mountainside like a giant keyhole. It takes about half an hour to climb the 999 steps that lead up to it, depending on your fitness level. From here, you'll ride a shuttle bus down the winding 99-Bend Road, which curls sinuously around the mountainside, to the cable-car station, and enjoy a late lunch in Zhangjiajie city. Finally, visit the Junsheng Painting Institute and learn about the unique artworks its founder creates using sandstone. Note: (The private transportation is not allowed to enter Zhangjiajie Mt.Tianmen which offer their own shuttle buses, Private Car will drop up and pick up from the gate of the Scenic Spot.)

Most beautiful place on earth

Oh this place is so beautiful and magical. It felt so peaceful. Loved it completely. The walk down is a bit challenging so I could only imagine how the walk up would be.

Is Private Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain with Skywalk worth it?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zhangjiajie, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain with Skywalk?

+

Is Private Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain with Skywalk suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain with Skywalk?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zhangjiajie can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zhangjiajie and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Tour of Tianmen Mountain with Skywalk start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zhangjiajie within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Zhangjiajie?

+

On Outty we rank every Zhangjiajie experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 1-Day Best Mini Group & Private Tours to Mt. Avatar & Forest Park, 1-2 Days All-inclusive Tours: Mt Avatar, Glass Bridge, Mt Tianmen, 1-Day Private Zhangjiajie Tour to Avatar Mountain & Glass Bridge. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zhangjiajie?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zhangjiajie?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
