One of the Best
We're in our 70s and have taken many tours in many parts of the world. This was right there with the best. The primary reason for the high rating is, as it almost always is, the guide. His name was Captain Andy. If you are looking to take this tour, ask in advance who is the guide. BTW; Have taken another tour with Outside a couple years ago, and it was also very fun.

Great tour
What a great tour with an awesome guide, Captain Dean! From the minute we got on the boat , Captaian Dean was sharing all his knowledge of the area, He made sure to spot dolphins for us and gave us time to appreciate them swimming around. Once on the island, his tour was super informative. His easy way made learning the history of the area fun! He even had us convinced that a Boo Hag took our keys! On the way back from the island, he made sure to spot us more dolphins. I would recommend to anyone to take a trip with Captain Dean!

Highly Recommend Daufuskie Island History Tour by Outside Hilton Head
My husband has been coming to Hilton Head Island for over 40 years. I have been coming with him for 30. However, we have never taken a trip to Daufuskie Island. We inquired about tours and considered going on the Ferry on our own, but after finding the Outside Hilton Head History Tour and reading reviews we decided to try it. It was an amazing experience. Master Captain Dean Hager was experienced and knowledgeable throughout the tour. His personal style made the group of 9 feel comfortable not only with him, but with each other as well. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to learn about the island and we will look to book another tour with Dean on a return trip. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Response from the operator: Sounds like a magical time on Daufuskie Island! It is such a gem of the lowcountry and we are glad captain Dean could show it the beauty!

Delightful Daufuskie
Daufuskie Island is one of the most pleasant places to visit. At Daufuskie, it is total relaxation time. There are many sites that you can visit and probably more are open later in March and definitely in April and May. Your mode of transportation is the golf cart. Beaches are pleasant. Most eateries are open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There are a few that are open for dinner. The people on Daufuskie are very warm welcoming and enjoy telling you all about their island. You will never find friendlier people. The weekends are busy, so for us, midweek was best for our family. When you stay, the best advice is to purchase any food that you might want to prepare for breakfast as well as snack food during the day. Would we go back there? Most definitely is our familys' answer and leaving Daufuskie Island was sad for all of us.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and detailed reflection on your visit to Daufuskie Island. It sounds like you truly soaked in the charm, peacefulness, and warmth that make it such a special destination. We love hearing how the island’s friendly community, beautiful beaches, and laid back pace made your family’s trip so memorable. Great tip about coming midweek and bringing breakfast and snack items too. We would absolutely love to welcome you all back again soon!

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hilton Head Island.
How much does Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $585 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hilton Head Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hilton Head Island is not rushed.
Is Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hilton Head Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hilton Head Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hilton Head Island and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Daufuskie Island History and Artisian Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hilton Head Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hilton Head Island?
+
Hilton Head sells dolphin and sunset cruises out of Broad Creek, kayak and boat trips through Lowcountry salt marsh, bike rentals for the island trail network and shrimping demonstrations. On Outty we rank every Hilton Head Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2-Hour Hilton Head Guided Kayak Nature Tour, Hilton Head Island Dolphin Boat Cruise, Daufuskie Island Guided History Tour from Hilton Head. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hilton Head Island?
+
March to May and September to November, warm without peak summer crowds. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hilton Head Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
